Michael Jackson: Entertainment Weekly Tribute Cover
Here’s just one of the four separate tribute covers available this week from Entertainment Weekly. The covers feature Michael Jackson singing at home in 1972; on the set of the “Thriller” video in 1983 (pictured here); a portrait taken in 1983; and performing in New York City on Sept. 10, 2001.
EW columnist Stephen King writes, “It’s worth noting that he was never convicted of anything in criminal court, and when I asked Mick—who hung out with Michael occasionally— he was emphatic in his belief that Michael Jackson was indeed innocent of the abuse allegations. In the court of public opinion, however, he was found guilty of Weirdness in the First Degree, and ended up secluded in one haunted castle after another. Finally, he died in one. Strange man. Lost man. And not unique in his passing. Like James Dean, Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, and a dozen others we could name, he just left the building far too soon. Because, man oh man, that guy could dance.”

I heard Elton John was going to sing a tribute song at his funeral:
“Don’t let your son go down on me”
I thought Michael Jackson died… who are those black dudes?
Did anyone stop and think that maybe the reason why Michael loved to have kids in his home is because he never had the chance to be one, at the young age of 5, he was already earning a living for his family. Before we start judging others, you need to look at yourself in the mirror and see if you can honestly say that you are without sin. Besides, Michael was never found guilty, paying someone does not admit guilt, the decision might have come from his manager. When money is involved and parents of children are money motivated, they will stop at nothing to get rich quick. Michael’s father needs to sit down and stop referring to his son as a superstar, he should start referring to him as my son, I guess, he never thought of Michael as such, he has always seen Michael as a cash cow. Now, Michael is in peace and with his maker, no more physical and emotional pain. Rest in peace, King of music and dance.
beautiful, nice covers
luv ya michael
I think EW has picked photos from when Michael looked his very best. Why he didn’t see that and cease further reconstruction (into realms of freakdom) we’ll never fully understand. I’m all for celebrating his genius, but I am recoiling from the attempts to portray him as a saint. He was clearly deeply troubled.
And fcuk Jamie Foxx’s comment too. What an ignorant jerk. What if someone had said Farrah belonged to whites only? Can’t believe ppl get away with saying such shiit in life.
male @ 07/01/2009 at 1:50 pm PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM
WHEN HE WAS DEAD NOBODY SAID ANYTHING NICE AND NOW OUT OF NOWHERE EVERYONES LOVES HIM
COME ON
and yes, heath ledger is not in the same row as micheal and elvis or even jimi hendrix…
but he was a beautiful person, with his own strange manors.. but he was still very a sweet and loving person.. i never believed he would hurt children.. i really didnt
and that was even before i knew his father was such a mean and bad man…
it ’s sad that someone so famous and rich, can get so lonely and depressed…
my love goes out to his children, to janet and her sisters and brothers.. not to his dad.. micheal meant nothing to him.. he’s just showing his face in tv like he cares, but he does not
AND ALL THE COMMENTS PEOPLE ARE MAKING NOW IS ONLY BECAUSE THEY WANT A 15 SECONDS OF FAME.. ITS SO SAD, SO SAD MICHEAL THAT EVERYONE WANTS TO EAT FROM YOUR NAME..
YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FATHER, YOUR ”FRIENDS”, YOUR EX-WIFES…
ONLY YOUR CHILDREN ARE THE ONES WHO ARE GETTING HURT..!! NOT ANYONE ELSE.. THEIR FATHER IS DEAD AND NO-ONE CARES ABOUT THEM, ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY THEY CARE ABOUT….
SO TELL ME IF IT’S REALLY TRUE THAT MICHEAL DID MOLEST THOSE CHILDREN.
THAN WHY WOULD HE DO ALL THOSE NICE THINGS FOR CHILDREN AAAALLL OVER THE WORLD???
EVEN IN HOLLAND, WHERE I LIVE, HE CAME TO A CHILDREN HOSPITAL AND GAVE ALL THE SICK CHILDREN SO MANY GIFTS THEY COULDN’T BELIEVE THEIR EYES..
IT’S TRUE THAT THOSE PARENTS WANTED TO GET RICH, SO THEY USED THEIR CHILD AND HIM, TO GET TO HIS MONEY..
AND THEY DID, BECAUSE MICHEAL WAS SO HURT BY EVERY THING THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD HAD SAID TO HIM THAT HE JUST WANTED TO HAVE SOME REST..
HE’S NOT WACKO OR ANYTHING.. HE JUST WANTED TO LIVE HIS LIVE..
HE MADE MONEY FOR IS FAMILY, HIS FATHER, AND THE ONLY THING HIS FATHER WOULD DO IS CALL HIM NAMES AND LOOK DOWN ON HIM AND HIS BROTHERS…
I HOPE HE’S IN HEAVEN NOW, WITH IS GUARDIAN ANGELS AND ALL THE PEOPLE HE LOST OVER THE YEARS…..
MY HEART IS IN A DIFFERENT PLACE, SINCE THE DAY HE WENT… I JUST ADORE HIM EVEN MORE THAN I DID BACK IN THE DAYS…..
***********ALL THE LOVE AND RESPECT TO THE ONE AND ONLY MUSIC MAKING TALENTED LOVING SWEETEST ARTIST ON THE WORLD**********
I didn’t grow up with Farrah Fawcet………I had no clue about her back then. Yeahhh, MJ was my music in the 80’s n 90’s, so I could care less about Farah. RIP Jacko, U’ll be missed, the only one King of POP!!!
I’m sorry but I don’t think Heath was as huge as the others Stephen mentioned in his column. He was a great actor but not yet an icon or legend. MJ was, and always will be. RIP MJ
I just bought this issue and exact cover of “Entertainment Weekly” with Michael on it, along with a whole bunch of other magazines that feature tributes to him - including “Newsweek” and “Time” magazines! - this evening. Making the covers of those two major publications is no small feat. Michael Jackson had a major impact on music, music videos, pop culture and the lives of those people who grew up with and/or enjoyed his music. Sadly, it seems he’s going to be appreciated more now that he’s gone than he was in his later years. The past 10-15 years were rough on him. It’s never good when an actor or singer makes more headlines with their personal lives or issues than with their talents. The emphasis should have remained on him as an artist, not as tabloid fodder.
God bless you and keep you, Michael. Wherever you are, know that you are being thought about and loved.
