Amber Rose makes quite the fashion statement, sporting a colorful new do while leaving the Villa Lounge in Los Angeles on Thursday (July 2).
Last week, Amber and boyfriend Kanye West hit the red carpet together at the 2009 BET Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

People don’t appreciate fashion avant garde anymore. Grace Jones, Cindy Lauper in the 80’s, David Bowie - these ar epeople who tried different things with fashion..fashion forward…and nowadays in a world of stylists dressing stars, everyone freaks out if a girl dresses like Amber Rose. I think it looks great! She and Rihanna get it - the whole fashion forward and fashion quirky thing. Good for them. Dressing like everyone else is boring.
And she is stunning to boot!
^Don’t give her too much credit. I want to weep at you comparing her to them. I don’t want to get into her history or the fact that certain sections of the U.S. more so suffer from lack of fashion sense/ fashion risks. And plus, please realize, then can AFFORD this, which is a HUGE part of fashion. I’m more impressed with the student in NY who looks fantastic and has an average income. Plus, Rhianna is not avant garde, she’s very much so apart of the trends of these times.
In her case, she basically dyed her hair to match her outfit. She’s not the first nor the last black person to dye her hair. I don’t want to get into myself, but I’m pretty sure I dyed my hair blue a few years ago and it was whatev.
The hair is kinda cool. But ugh! that outfit! Boring yet annoying…

LuckyL: so because one is not a starving artist then one can’t be fashion forward? Often the two feed off each other. Grace Jones was dressing like drag stars in clubs she sang in and vice versa. They all fed off each other. Fashion forward is fashion forward whether you are David Bowie or the NYC kid with $20 for your outfit.
I am saying it would be easy for Amber Rose to have long hair and wear Versace gowns on the red carpet. She realizes dresses as she does sets her apart from the stylist crazy women on the red carpet. Yes, Rihanna hasa stylist and millions of dollars but she decided to go the opposite direction with it - instead of looking like a Versace beauty queen, she tries different things. I give props to that too. Even their short hair is a statement in a time when women find feminity in long hair - Amber Rose and Rihanna know they are hot - they could go bald and still would look hot.
And fashion is always retro. Fashion forward usually looks back at fashion of the past, spices it up to look new. David Bowie as the Thin White Duke looks like Errol Flynn or something. Those 30’s men’s classic suits etc. And Ziggy Stardust was not new. I mean Barbarella and the Jetsons had worn it first. lol.
Sorry to crack everyone’s bubble, but there is rarely anything new in fashion just new attitudes about wearing fashion from the past. I have designer friends. They know it is about taking from the past and making it new. Amber Rose: I respect you for wearing it honey cause I sure have not convinced myself how to cut my locks and go buzz cut with blue hair.
