Roger Federer Wins Wimbledon, 15th Major
Roger Federer wins his record 15th Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday (July 5) in London, England.
15 major championships — more than any man ever! The record was previously held by Pete Sampras with 14 championships.
The 27-year-old Swiss tennis champ beat Andy Roddick 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14 in an epic Wimbledon match.
On Monday, Roger will reclaim the world number one spot from Rafael Nadal, who didn’t play this tournament because of a knee injury.
Congrats, Roger!!! 20+ pictures inside of Wimbledon winner Roger Federer…

A true champion…not just exceptional talent but a man of grace, class and integrity. I wish him and his wife the best with the birth of thier first child. Unlike some athletes there will probably give a simple public statement and picture. Period. Like I said true class and talent.
HUGE congrats to Roger, but I have to say — Roger wasn’t playing first rate. He barely won. Andy played exceptionally well. He’s finally maturing. This should have been his win.
I MISS RAFA so much!!
A true champion knows how to both win and lose with class and respect for thier opponent…Roger is one of them and always will be.
I was so devestated that Andy lost…we can all give Roger credit…he has the record, he’s amazing, etc. BUT…who did not feel for Andy today? He played so brilliantly…it felt like his tournament to win and I couldn’t believe he walked away empty handed…
And I smirked a bit when Roger tried to claim he knew how it felt to lose and Andy said, “yeah, you’ve already won 5…” I hate it when people who have won 100 times try to console someone who has never had that opportunity…it was a ridiculous statement for a guy who just won 15 and Andy has 1…
I am still shocked and feel so sympathetic towards Andy…
To dria: Im not sure we watch the same interview with Roger…Ive been a fan for many years and have watched many of his interviews and not sure what ones you have. Id love for media to run them back to back and point out where and how many times he is doing what you say he is. He has earned the reputation he has both on and off the court for reason.
BTW Roger has beat Rafa before and yes vice versa….both played the French open this year. Roger even offered Rafa a ride on his plane when they were both coming to the U.S. to play and Rafa accepted. The two of them obviously operate at a level of mutual respect and maturity that some of their fans dont. That’s why both are champions.
Gah! IM SO MAAAD! I thought roddick really should have won he played brilliantly the match was so close! I think roddick displaced traits of a champion. I was never really a fan but now i think hes amazing. AND I HAATEEE Roger Federer im sorry i know everyone thinks hes so classy and amazing but he just gets on my nerves he is not humble at all he trys so hard but hes so fake. AND lets be honest if Rafa was not injured right now he would have been the champion and when Rafa gets better Roger will no doubt be at a final crying once again. And Roddick will no doubt defeat roger in the us open!
I watched it and towards the end was so nervous watching, I was rooting for Andy Roddick and he played better but Federer was too desperate to make a record for himself. He didn’t deserve to win it, Andy played better. I’m hopeful he is going to win it if not next year the year after. I’m sure he will beat Federer next time.
That was a good match. Congrats to Roger. I have a feeling that Andy will be winning a major very soon.
the greatest ever, yoiu go roger
That was a long one and I watched the whole thing while everyone else was outside having fun in the sun! LOL
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
HE WINS THE TITLE BUT ANDY STILL GETS THE HOT MODEL WIFE!
what a final, wow
Great match (but not as epic as last year’s final), total nail biter!
roddick is my winner…love andy…next year andy you will win because you deserve it
ALL IS WELL IN THE TENNIS WORLD AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)
congratulations!!
So did Serena Williams………………….. Did I miss that post?
I mean Serena won against her sister not that she won 15th grand slams but she deserves some recognition 2.
this should have been roddicks match. he deserved it and btw he won the us open in 2003 and was in 4 grand slam finals. to me he was the better player today
im not his fan, i prefer nadal
who im sure would have made this guy cry again in the finals
but i gotta congratulate the guy, it’s really amazing
15 majors!! im a nadal fan and all but i dont think nadal will ever reach that
im watched some of it, i was really hoping andy would win, i had some hope after the 1st set but sadly he lost =[
I felt bad for Andy. The poor boy never lived up to the early hype. But he gave it his all today. I hope he wins it one day.
i was team roddick and federer.. a little more roddick but anyways congrats! keep breaking records fedex
