Roger Federer Wins Wimbledon, 15th Major
Roger Federer wins his record 15th Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday (July 5) in London, England.
15 major championships — more than any man ever! The record was previously held by Pete Sampras with 14 championships.
The 27-year-old Swiss tennis champ beat Andy Roddick 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14 in an epic Wimbledon match.
On Monday, Roger will reclaim the world number one spot from Rafael Nadal, who didn’t play this tournament because of a knee injury.
Congrats, Roger!!! 20+ pictures inside of Wimbledon winner Roger Federer…

Andy was robbed, I like rodger but he has 15 now could of let Roddick he played better but was just to exhausted at the end he had nothing left to give
If Roddick was exhausted and had nothing left to give… How was he robbed? So because Roger had 14, he should have given the match to Andy… I believe Andy would be offended by ‘getting’ a major…
@anon: obviously you’re purposely avoiding his pressers because i could show you excerpts from Fed’s interviews where he’s being a complete jackass. only a few players respect Fed as a person because he’s always talking badly about others and boosting his own ego simultaneously. even commentators, including Brad Gilbert, have criticized Fed for unnecesarily badmouthing his fellow players. know your stuff before you make a stupid statement next time.
Roger Federer wouldn’t have won this title if Rafael Nadal wasn’t injured. Same with the french.
YES…………………. Roger the GOAT.
Congratst to Fed on the record and getting his number 1 spot back. Who cares with Rafa let’s see if he can beat that record or even get to 10 since some people think he is that great. Rafa’s brand of tennis is hard on the body as he already has chronic knee issues. Go Roger love him.
yays!congratz roger!!!!#1 yeah!
I’m way late in commenting, but thanks for the thread Jared!
.
Roger rocks! Many congrats to Roger on winning his 15th Grand Slam and 6th Wimbledon title! He needs 1 Wimbledon to tie Pete Sampras and I’d love to see him get another 5 Slam titles and put up a total number that’ll stand for a long time. He’s still got the US Open this year so hopefully it won’t take too long to get #16. Way to go, Roger!
awsome match.congrates to federer.
great match & finally the champ won!
Federer remember Nadal after the martch. For me this is much.
The people remember the tears of Roger. Well, Andy is in tears, too.
I respect the people with hearth.
Nadal is injured, yes, but the world don’t stop for this.
I don’t ear Roger badmoutin his rivals.
Most awaiting moment
#78, for the record, nadal already lost in the 4th round. he wasnt injured then.
anyhow, congrats to federer. really intense match but glad it all paid off!
CONGRADS!!! LOVE FIFTHEEN :D ROGER THE KING OF TENNIS
I Love U,Roger. He Is The Best ;) King Of Tennis!
Another well deserved wimbledon title!!
My sports Hero
yeaaaaaa fed. awww a-rod. also sucdks for rafa being injured. good match. congrats to serena too.
how can Roddick deserve this more than Federer?
it ain’t Federer’s fault that Roddick couldn’t put a high backhand volley in the court while Federer was 2 feet behind the baseline and it floated long after being 4 set points UP
for those saying that Roddick deserved it how?
Federer hit 50 aces to 27 for Roddick
Federer had 223 winners to 213 for Roddick
Federer hit 38 errors to 33 for Roddick
4 double faults EACH
how can anyone blame Federer for Roddick not winning more slams?
Roddick has lost in slams to the likes of
Marat Safin at the 2004 Aussie Open
Gilles Muller at the 2005 at the USO when in the First round
Marcos Baghdatis at the 2006 Aussie Open
Andy Murray at the 2006 Wimbledon
Richard Gasquet at the 2007 Wimbledon after being UP 2 sets and a break !
Philip Kohlschreiber at the 2008 Aussie Open
Janko Tipsarevic at the 2008 Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic at the 2008 USO
you seen I’m being kind to Roddick and his deranged fans who think that he “deserves” this match since I left out his annual losses in the French Capital
Congratulation to Roger! An epic match.
At the beginning of the match, I want Federer to win but toward the end, my heart was with Roddick, he had given his all and I believe it was his best of the best tennis yesterday. Congratulation to Roddick, you have giving Roger something to think about before the U.S. Open.
poor roddick he played so well :(
@dria:
we’ll see! and actually he’s very humble and classy..in fact he’s always been one of the most classy players! Andy is an absolute a- hole…he’s so cocky! Federer respects the game and he always admits defeat and admits he wasn’t playing well or the other player was the better player.. I should know..I ACTUALLY WATCH HIS PRESS CONFERENCES. Anyway no matter what you or anyone else says..he’s the greatest tennis player of all time! and one question- who won the last time rafa and roger played..oh ye ROGER
lol. nice pic :DDD
