Miley Cyrus Covers ‘Elle’ August 2009
Miley Cyrus isn’t a kid anymore, taking the August 2009 cover of Elle. Here’s what the 16-year-old Hannah Montana star opens up about:
On her new clothing line with Max Azria for Wal-Mart: “The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.”
On the difficulties of being a teen star and why she’s friends with other young performers: “It’s hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick [Jonas] and Demi [Lovato], we don’t need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on.”

This is not for disney, nor has anything to do with disney so people need to chill. The magazine is for adults who are mature enough to realize why Miley is on the cover. If you don’t like it don’t blame Miley. The poor girl, I mean seriously. I do not see what the problem is with the cover. Elle is only trying to make money off it all, just like Vanity Fair. Any magazine does, it’s normal and not Elle’s fault. But people need to stop picking on Miley. She doesn’t have a say in everything she does. It certainly is up to Elle how she looked on this cover and if they’re smart they knew some people wouldn’t like it. I’m not against Elle, I haven’t even heard of the magazine since right now. I’m just saying STOP JUMPING ON MILEY. And GROW UP already guys. She can’t be part of Disney forever. If she was a 15 year old model you wouldn’t care. If it was an every day 14 year old girl walking down the street you wouldn’t care. It’s only YOUR insecurities and YOUR nasty minds taking this way too far than it should be. It’s most of all this sick world’s fault that this cover is a deal.

Okay..Elle is a cool magazine and Miley looks great. But why the heck would the stylist make her wanna dress like that. SHEEEESH! Btw, she did NOT have a boob job. She said she never did & never will in an interview. In the pnk picture, of course she is not a kid. SHE IS A TEEN. NOT AN ADULT. ugggh, what happen to Hollywood these days?
Ok, right now, I’m going to say that I respect other people’s opinions and I hope that they respect mine. I’ve been reading the comments so far, and half are about people who absolutely hate Miley, and half are about people who admire her and are willing to defend her. I think that’s ok, but I’m going to say that I’m on the side of people who really dislike Miley Cyrus.
Even though I don’t like her, I’ll say one good thing about her: she’s 16, and that means she is kinda grownup to do these kinda things. I mean, she can probably make her own choices now, and if she’s willing to dress like that for a cover of a magazine then so be it. I just ignore it. I’m going to say right now that I’m Muslim, and no, I’m not the terrorist kind of Muslim, I’m a normal person just like everybody else. I don’t like how she’s being represented for a magazine, and yes, I do think that she’s being a little too revealing. And even though I said she’s a little grownup (in the mature way), she’s still a kid. But hey, it’s her choice.
I would’ve thought that she would’ve been a good role model for all the young kids who look up to her. And now they’re seeing her like this. And I would’ve thought that even her caring father would’ve disagreed to letting her dress like this, even if she is 16. It would’ve been better if she had done it when she would be 18, then she would actually be an adult. But whatever, is all I’m going to think.
It seems to me that she’s trying to be more grownup than she is, I mean, come on girl, enjoy your youth! I’m trying to be as nice as possible in voicing my opinions in this comment, even though I really (yes I will say it) hate Miley, a lot. I always thought that she wasn’t a good person, and I don’t think she’s being a good role model. I don’t like many of the disney stars, except for Selena and Demi. Usually I don’t make sense when i talk about how I feel, but I felt like I needed to express myself when I saw this picture of Miley. And one last thing, I’m 14, and I don’t think that I have many insecurities. I don’t want to be a famous singer or actress, and I’m not jelaous of any star, especially Miley. I don’t have any special talent, other than being smart (I hope) and humorous. But I think that there are a lot more girls out there with more talent than Miley, and it wasn’t a right choice for Disney to pick her out of all of them.

miley does have a say in what she needs to do to have a successful photo shoot. if something was too revealing all she would have to do is walk off the set and use the defense that she is too young for such things. but CLEARLY since she is revealing her body in a “seductive” way and the Vanity Fair shoot a while back, miley likes showing skin. look at her scandal photos. miley likes to look “sexy”. anyways, the picture of her in the pink dress would have been more appropriate and classy. Elle, and miley failed.

MILEY CYRUS IS NO VICTIM. of course they photoshopped the picture…why would a teenager be exempt for the publicity machine when she is clearly in the business of publicity in the ENTERTAINMENT business. lol and although i don’t disagree with you that it isn’t all elle’s fault i agree with you on the elle should know better part. and they key part is should. if you are telling me that miley freakin cyrus doesn’t have a say in her actions then i am telling you flat out that you are not a human being. this child who acts like she’s atleast 20 or 21 or 25 or 30, definately acts not within her age bracket, even if all the kids are oversexualizing themselves nowafays (doesn’t mean it’s right) is not a victim here, and for you to be looking at it all from that perspective is entirely hilarious. miley cyrus is no idiot. she’s not being held hostage, she is not being held with a weapon and immediate death. in fact if she really didn’t want to do something she could do what all teenagers do, normal ones, and act like a teenager, but of course she can’t do that can she. normal teenagers do not have multi million empires and make more money then their parents or some adults or working people will ever know. so you know what, it comes with the territory. the way she acts is a product of her up bringing (lol at her being a christian), her environment, social conventions and the like. miley cyrus is not unlike many teenagers out there today. but i hope you got the message somone said before. miley cyrus is a role model. infact scratch that, that isn’t something i think personally, miley cyrus knows that she is a role model…so what do you say to the little kids who go to their dad’s and mom’s and start making demands that they want to look, act, be like miley cyrus. i mean that’s good for little kids under the age of 16 to be doing what this miley cyrus chick is doing right. that girl is no role model and it’s sad that people are always pushing kids to grow up before their time and get into the show business. she’s not the only one. what she does is not really my business. it’s my business when my little cousins come up to me behaving or looking like this girl because they love her so much and they love hanah freaking montana. that’s when i have a problem. she can do whatever she wants. i hope she knows the scope of her influenece.
I honestly dont see what is the big deal…i have seen younger girls outside showing more cleavage than what she is showing…and boob job?! are you serious how can you even think that a 16 year old is going to get a boob job …hello! its called puberty sheezh.

well yeah when she was 12 she was flatter then a board and still a couple of months ago and not even that maybe like 5 weeks ago her chest was smaller. I do sense that she did get a boob job or that there was some editing to her chest and face done to these pictures. I can’t believe how some children and their childhood are sold out. they all are children and they should behave like children and not like perfect little adults. I mean we had a lot of examples what could happen to such children later.

@f: what does being a disney star have to do with anything? she’s growing up. there’s 25 year old disney stars that are on magazines like this everyday and no one boycotts them but once someone a little younger than them is on one you piss your pants.

what i have to laugh about is the fact she says its a new way for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available,Because walmart has nothing for us how most put it “Skinny people” ,I used to be able to buy shirts from there because it was (S 3/5) but now its ( S 4/6). Yes i am tiny (32 around) but im a size (C cup) in bra. Now if she wants to do some real good make clothes that will fit peoples body and make them look good in wat they wear. My mother is well a little over weight but she cant get anything from there either.So we end up sewing clothing so we have something to wear.
I agree. I’m 24 years old and my litte sister is 16. I may not be her mother, but I would slap the taste out of my sisters mouth if she dressed like that. Leather and breast, along with the face she is making, is for adults. She is just a child. Until she is 18, she will be a child. Unlike the photo taken of her back (that to me wasn’t a big deal, it was just her back and she was covered up) this has gone to far. There should be legal actions taken against her father and her agents for allowing this.
I also need to say that all of you people, moaning and complaining about Miley Cyrus need to just shut up. She is who she is. Its her life. If you dont like your children looking up to her, stop them from watching her shows, stop them from listening to her music. Dont allow them to bother with her at all. Enstead of “waah miley is a Wh-re! miley is a sl-t!” Just ban the people you know you can ban from having anything to do with her. Its that simple.
I wish everyone would realize that, the world, though I hate to say it, is perverted. Some countries actually take 10 and 11 year old girls and prostitute them. Here in America we like to at least say “its the parents decision once the child reaches 16, on whether or not that child can have premaritals.” As long as her Dad allows it, there is nothing ANYONE can do. If she wants it this way, and her Daddy says OK! then stop complaining, you aren’t doing yourself or your stress level any good.
While i may not agree with her being 16 and showing clevage, theres really nothing that can be do ne. So why waste time harping on the things you cannot change?

Isn’t Elle a fashion magazine? Almost all girls, young and older, are interested in fashion. So of course Miley is interested.
As for Elle, how often does a fashion magazine get to have a Rock Star!!! on it’s cover! She is also a movie star, a television star, a youtube star, etc. In short, a SUPERSTAR!!!
