Rachel Weisz: Ban Botox!
Rachel Weisz doesn’t dig the frozen faces of Hollywood, she tells the August 2009 issue of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar (via Fox News).
“It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen,” the 39-year-old British actress says of Botox. “Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?”
As for fashion, Rachel says, “I love the way girls in London dress; it’s so different to the American ‘blow-dry and immaculate grooming’ thing.”

@Excuse me?:
The magazine is from the UK and Rachel did not write the article. The person i’m laughing at here is you because of how ill informed you present yourself. You give us all a bad name with your stupidity and your incapability to comprehend what was said.
Come on… anyone with half a brain would know that Rachel was just talking about the differences in fashion between the countries. If anybody got offended over that, then they are way too sensitive for their own good and should not read anything over a fifth grade level.
I have the actual magazine in my hand and Rachel is not saying anything bad about America at all, only comparing the type of style trends that are out there. Whoever is getting up in arms over her comment is just looking for trouble or is in fact pretty stupid.
For for the Botox question, its very dangerous to inject anything in your body for fear of it rejecting it and Botox is a very sensitive chemical that can not only mess up your chemistry but your facial muscles as well. Rachel is right in wanting to ban it, its not a safe thing to do and people go way too far with it, to the point of endangering themselves.
For one, people who are trying to make a big deal over Rachel’s statement regarding the American grooming thing are just trying to get people railed up over nothing. Its very clear that Rachel is only talking about the difference between her native country in regard to fashion sense, not the people themselves. It comes across very clear, so i don’t understand why some people are getting angry over something that was not intent to insult anyone. It probably boils down to a certain sense of ignorance on those people who want to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
@Excuse me?:
I think you’re the joke around here. You know that the article is written by a reporter right? You know that it comes from a different country that has different rules on grammar right? Maybe you should keep your mouth shut before you embarrass yourself even further because you’re only showing how uneducated you are.
This isn’t the first time she bashed Americans!So I wouldn’t say people are overreacting.Hollywood is in its own world.It should be taken out of America and seperated from the rest of the country haha!She shouldn’t be generalizing when it comes to America.I’m sure she hasn’t been to every single state to make a rash comment like that.If she prefers the way women in London dress,that’s fine!She has an opinion and she can express that opinion without being so primitive. How can you compare one city like London to all of America! Sounds a bit too silly!
Who in gods name Is getting offended over this?
“As for fashion, Rachel says, “I love the way girls in London dress; it’s so different to the American ‘blow-dry and immaculate grooming’ thing.”
That’s offensive to you? You think that’s anti American? Some of you guys are MORONS. Really, get a grip and get a life, she said nothing wrong.
@voe: White skin does not get lines at 25! I am 47 and have barely visible wrinkles around the eyes - I get complimented on my skin all the time, and I am as pale as you can get without actually being transparent. It’s all genetics, sun, and some face care.

I see logical analysis is not your forte.
What does a UK publication have to do with her inabilty to speak elementary English? When last I checked, ENGLISH was the official language of the UK, Einstein.
As for “stupidity,” it means a LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. My language is flawless and my erudition superb, so what is the basis for your claim? If you mean you DISAGREE with me, then that is something entirely different (I hope I’m not going too fast for you to keep up, Dear).
And how sad that your vocabulary is so limited you must resort to playground-level pejoratives. Perhaps you and Ms. Weisz shared a seat on the “short bus.” Weisz (and YOU) apparently do not know that something cannot be different “TO” something else. What pathetic dolts you both are.
Weisz is an IGNORANT BRIT who cannot speak properly, AND who is so HYPOCRITICAL that she criticizes those who use Botox, yet has no problem having her OWN image distorted via PHOTOSHOPPING.
Sweetie, you and Weisz TOGETHER aren’t bright enough to navigate the intricacies of “up” and “down” elevator buttons.
I think its far more insulting for American for certain people to show how stupid they are in taking an Innocent comment about something trivial and try to make it an anti american rant. That’s more insulting to Americans because it only shows that we are incapable of understanding what we are reading.
@Excuse me?:
You make us all look bad with your stupidity. Shut up.
@Kelly P:
KellyP, I don’t care what you say or what you call me. This is not the first time she has made side remarks about Americans. She will not get another dime from me. End of story.
OK, i fail to see where in her comments that Rachel is being anti American. I only see a comment about her sense of fashion.
Some of you people are nuts.
@lala:
I don’t think Rachel really care about an dumb person who decides not to pay to see her films. And yes, people should call you names, look at the way you are acting.
Is it me or there are way too many stupid people who can’t understand a damn thing they are reading? If anybody got offended over Rachel’s remark OVER FASHION OF ALL THINGS, they are so beyond stupid that its not even funny.
There was nothing in that article that was a slight against Americans. I think a few of you are just out of your minds and need help.
‘blow-dry and immaculate grooming’ thing.” She said. But then that’s all we ever see from her on these magazine covers. So much so that’s it’s hard to recognize her.
Hold on here, is this the Bizzaro world? When did some-one’s opinion on fashion become a attack on American soil? Are some people here that deranged? Sweet Jesus…
As for the botox thing, i agree with Rachel here, its a sad state of affairs that people’s sense of value is that diminish for them to put stuff into their faces to look beautiful.
I think when she meant Americans are obsessed with being immaculate she was referencing the flat ironed blown out hair, full face of makeup, done nails look. I think she meant that Europeans are more natural in their look, which as an American, I prefer.
I think Rachel looks great and yes, a few of you are ignorant and stupid. Anybody reading what she said would get that she just taking about style, not about people.
@Jamie,
.
Genetic plays the same role in every race. There are blacks who get lines at young age (Vanessa William is one), and there are Asians who appear older than their age to other Asians. You are the few whites who are blessed with youthful genes if you are 47 and has no lines around your eyes. But most have wrinkles early. Even Asians are getting wrinkles earlier now. I attribute this to the obsession with over-exercising to fit into trendy clothes designed by guys who do not want to be guys but are fascinated by guy’s body shape, and to wearing make-up too early, too much.
.
Btw, I am Asian, around your age, and have faint lines at the tails of my eyes, lost plumpness on my lids, face in general, fullness of my lips, etc. I do not buy these actresses who claim to have nothing done to their faces and bodies yet have bigger eyes, higher brows, fuller cheeks, still full or fuller lips, perkier and bigger boobs than when they were in their 20’s. BS! I say.
She wants to start another war with the Americans. Woop woop.
Are a few people here that stupid to think that what Rachel had said was an insult to Americans? Are these people serious and if so, what loony bend did they escape from?
she looks like Keira Knightley on the cover…i mean in the good way!
Rachel rocks. “excuse me’ is an idiot. Smith is right.
