Rachel Weisz: Ban Botox!

Rachel Weisz doesn’t dig the frozen faces of Hollywood, she tells the August 2009 issue of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar (via Fox News).

“It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen,” the 39-year-old British actress says of Botox. “Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?”

As for fashion, Rachel says, “I love the way girls in London dress; it’s so different to the American ‘blow-dry and immaculate grooming’ thing.”

Rachel is right about the effects of botox, it does take away an actors ability to express their work. As for the whole “anti-American or uninformed about American cultural norms” thing, come on, who in their right mind thinks she really said that? Even a child could see that she talking about fashion. It could be that some people are really that slow and stupid or its a few people trying to cause an uproar over nothing. Either way, its pathetic and its insulting to the Americans who can understand what they are reading.

I totally agree with what Rachel said. A good example is Nicole Kidman, who can’t even close her eyes. Rachel looks natural, like what a real women should look like, not a plastic doll with no emotion.

And yes Hecliff, some people are that slow and stupid and they are the bane of american society. They make this country into the laughing stock of the world with their ignorance and inability to comprehend the world around them much less the stuff they are reading.

Steroids and Botox have nothing in common. Rachel Weisz is right, though. In America, we are obsessed with the way we look. That’s more of a psychological problem. But she goes on to say that the use of Botox injections leave actors less able to convey emotion, and that it harms the acting industry as much as steroids harm athletes.

You’ve got to be kidding.

I think its a fair comparison. Both feed off the insecurities of those who want to accomplish more and they have very bad side effects. Rachel is completely right.
