Constantine Maroulis Explains Bar Brawl

American Idol favorite Constantine Maroulis made headlines earlier this week for getting into a ‘bar fight’ with a fan over the news that Paula Abdul left the show.

“It was just a drunk dude at a concert [who] just like jumped on my back,” the 22-year-old told Extra. “Not that I wouldn’t [defend her], cause I love Paula. I would hit the streets for her but that’s not what happened.”

Idol alum Michael Johns also was shocked at the Paula news: “What can I tell you, I was a bit flabbergasted. Definitely she’s the reason people tune in whether you love her or whether you just want to see if she’s going to be a train wreck, you know. I think something special from the show will be missing.”

I saw him on Broadway at Rock of Ages. He really is the king of Broadway. He’s been on TV a lot lately. I saw him perform on the Today Show and The View all in one month!

I think Constantine is 32 not 22.

Constantine is a true gentleman and incredible human being!! I could so see him defending Paula as she was the only one on that show who honestly understood what he was trying to do and to this day I am sure he holds her close in his heart!

I really wish that people would STOP calling Constantine an “ugly old dude” or a “douche” because he’s not! He really is talented and charming and should have won the Tony Award instead of all those Billy Elliot kids!

@CC: Charming? He called David Archuleta gay on live radio. Calling a 17-year old kid that you have never even met gay seems a little classless to me. Sorry. I just can’t agree that he is charming after that incident.
