Ryan Seacrest Receives Height Help From A Box
American Idol host and E! News anchor Ryan Seacrest tapes a few TV segments in front of the cameras outside of the Idol auditions on Friday (August 15) in Boston, Mass.
The 34-year-old, who is 5-foot-8-inches, was seen taking American Idol to new heights by standing on top of a large box to appear taller for the cameras!
Ryan even took the time to pose with fans!

I like Ryan. He always talks to fans, poses for pictures, signs autographs , does kind things. I don’t care about him being on a box.

Okay, just jared statistically speaking 5′8″ is not that short for a male. 5′9′-5′10″ is the average height for a male. So 5′8″ would be below average. Ryan is clearly below 5′8″, and wears shoe lifts to appear taller. Why the *uck would someone 5′8″ need to stand on a platform? He must lie about how tall he really is!

Gotta speak up in his defense. They were trying to get a shot of Ryan with the building tops behind him…the tripod can only go so low, so they had the box (had to be about a foot) in order to get the shot. He is actually not as “short” as people think…you can tell by everyone around me saying “Wow, he isn’t as short as I thought”.
Nice guy too…all the judges were very gracious with the thousand or so fans that crowded the entrance.

I’m 5′11″, was next to him for a good portion of the day, he’s 5′8″. I promise.

Thanks, Shawn. I like Ryan. He is for us, like **** Clark was for our parents. I bet Kara, Randy, and even Simon are pretty good to the fans, but I have heard nothing but good things about Ryan most of all. And Ryan goes to every one of those random auditions in all the cities and he doesn’t even have to.
Here’s the thing, there are alot of people that want to hate him (and do). And I’ll be honest, the guy has EVERY JOB IMAGINABLE that I would love, but having met him, it’s tough to hate him. Really nice guy, down to earth.

I agree with Shawn — I’ve met Ryan too, and not only is he not short (I’m 5′6″ and he was significantly taller than me), but he’s super gracious and down to earth. My friends and I were so impressed by him!
5′8″?….Yeah, right. So, why is everybody making fun of his height all the time? He is only 5′6″.

I saw that episode of E news this is shot from. He’s on that box so they can get a shot of the city behind him and not the trees.
