Boyzone’s Stephen Gately Dead at 33
Stephen Gately, the 33-year-old lead singer of Irish boy band Boyzone, died on Saturday (October 10) on the Spanish island of Majorca, where he was vacationing with his husband Andrew Cowles (inset).
According to UK’s NOTW, “the gay singer’s coming out ten years ago caused a sensation in the pop music world. .. He married [Cowles] in a civil union in March 2006. His manager Louis Walsh was unaware of Stephen’s sexuality when he selected him for the band and has said that, had he known, he would have thought twice before picking him, citing that “‘It wasn’t cool then to have a gay guy in a band.’”

Very sad, he was my favourite in the band. I’m 27, but am still devastated at his loss. He exists in a lot of my chilhood memories. He was so young. Its a shame we never heard more about him in Australia after Boyzone initially broke up. RIP Stephen

If you don’t have any specific news about his death so far, don’t write about it!!!
What does his death have to do with his sexuality? Sound like: “Hey, he’s dead, but you know what: He was gay anyway.”
This is sad news! But you make me feel really ashamed when reading about it!
Why the hell are you focusing on his sexuality rather than how or why he died?! Even if that information isn’t avaliable maybe you should put Louis’s quote about how his DEATH:
“We’re all absolutely devastated. I’m in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don’t know much about what’s happened yet. I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man.”

According to a friend of his quoted in a broadsheet it looks like he went out for a few drinks, fell asleep and never woke up, so I’m thinking drug overdose here, because a few drinks isn’t likely to kill anyone. Just goes to show..
According to the News of the World, Gately had gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and gone to sleep, but never woke up.

It’s being reported he had gone out drinking, came home and went to sleep and never woke up. So it could be for any reason, maybe someone put something in his drink, alcohol poisoning or an unknown health condition.
