Stephen Gately’s Cause of Death: Pulmonary Edema
Stephen Gately, from the Irish boyband Boyzone, died of natural causes, autopsy results show.
A Balearic Islands Superior Tribunal statement says the autopsy shows the 33-year-old singer died as a result of a pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs).
On Saturday, Stephen was found dead on the sofa of a house on the Spanish island of Majorca while vacationing with his partner Andrew Cowles (blazer).
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephen’s family and friends –

R.I.P. Stephen…..
Wow! I want to know what this ‘liquid’ was.
MALLORCA!!! not MaJorca!
And in spain nobody knows anything about this man, so he doesn’t appear in the news or nothing like that!
Sounds like too much drankin’ and druggin’ to me.
question is… what caused the pulmonary edema? it’s unusual for a healthy young adult to have this condition without an underlying cause…
@CGC: You can spell it either way.
This is so sad. It’s crazy to think it was pulmonary edema because there are usually obviously symptoms that you’d want to get treated right away [i.e. coughing up blood, difficulty breathing].
Pulmonary edema due to heart failure?
@Georges: Not necessarily. There could’ve been a direct injury to his lung, which lines up with speculation that he may have choked on his own vomit. =[
Sad
R.I.P AIDS
Pulmonary edema caused by what?
RIP Stephen still can’t believe your gone. Thank you Jared for acknowledging this awful tragedy. xx
If the Bulgarina was just “staying over” both Andrew and Stephen would have been sleeping in the same bed.
It appears to me that Stephen died alone on the sofa gasping for breath while his partner was bonking the Bulgarian in the master bedroom.
That’s a trauma that’s hard to live with.
@not clear:
Its just a nice way to say he choked on his own vomit.
Crappy way to go.
@Mugwah: Yep that’s what i thought, bit odd to say the least of a guy that had no vices, none that we knew about anyway!
Pulmonary edema is secondary to a heart condition. He mostly had a cardiovascular disease which led to pulmonary edema. This is so bad…poor guy basically drowned from fluid/blood backup. so sad RIP
And NO he did not “choke on his own vomit”.
THIS IS SAD :(
TRY TO AVOID THIS BY LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, DON’T BINGE DRINK OR DO DRUGS.
R.I.P

@Georges:
Lets call a cat a cat! At this age, a pulmonary edema is most probabldue to hard drugs!
