Meryl Streep is Radiant in Rome
Living legend Meryl Streep hits the red carpet at the International Rome Film Festival’s premiere of Julie & Julia on Thursday (October 22).
Meryl, 60, will be awarded the Marcus Aurelius award for her lifetime achievement tomorrow, following in the footsteps of actors like Sean Connery and Al Pacino.
Julie & Julia, which premiered in the US this summer, was a way for Meryl to pay tribute to her mother. “She had the same joie de vivre,” she said.
“Embedded in this film is the idea is that as long as you have food and shelter, the necessities… what makes you happy on top of that is very simple and it’s accessible to anyone,” Meryl shared. “It’s a lovely message and it’s certainly true.”
FYI: Meryl is looking as classy as ever in an Alberta Ferretti dress, vintage jewelry by Bulgari and accessorized with black Ferragamo heels and a Ferragamo clutch.

SHE’S AWESOME! I LOVE HER!
i love her too
Maaaan, shes not sixty, NOO WAY. she’s soo awsome! I LOVE MERYL. she’s fantastic
Still absolutely gorgeous and classy. Hollywood doesn’t make them like that anymore. =/
Truly one of our great actresses. She proves you don’t have to flaunt yourself in the public eye to earn meaty acting parts. She proves you don’t have to be a size zero to win meaty acting parts.
Class act all the way!
A true genuine A-List Oscaring winning star with a sensible head to go with all of her other smarts.
Lovely ..The woman is a genius..
Perfection! One of the greatest women on the planet both on and off screen! Love her!
Classy woman and great actress.
I still love this woman, always will. :)
She’s simply wonderful
That’s right Meryl, show the talentless younger actresses how it’s done! She looks fabulous!
Now take a look. THIS WOMAN Will be remembered as a legend, not Angelina. And for all you who think Angelina is the greatest star because she’s in the tabloids all the time, I give you the woman who is never in the tabloids and has a long, successful career and will be remembered long after she is gone. That’s what I’m talking about. Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Charlize Theron, Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, these are the stars we should look to and respect!
These festival awards are meaningless and just used to garner publicity.
And these egotistical stars never met an award ceremony they won’t flock to even if it’s meaningly. Meryl Streep annoys me with all her indulgent award show crap. This woman loves to be honored.
That’s why Marlon Brando was cool and got it right when he said that award stuff was crap. It’s all just for show. Actors need to get over themselves they aren’t curing cancer! How many times can you congratulate yourselves over doing your job?
And Meryl Streep is not the greatest actress ever. That’s all hollywood hype. She’s good but what about the great foreign actresses that have existed? People just hype up Meryl because she steals all the great parts. Ofcourse if you get the best parts people will think you’re the best. What about Maggie Smith? She could act Meryl Streep off the screen!
@purple poet: I agree with you 100%. Well stated.
An absolutely brilliant figure.
I absolutely adore this woman!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ms Meryl! She is extrodinary and authentic talent, class, grace and lasting beauty personafied! She has more true talent, intelligence and class in her little finger than many young, tabloid fodder wannabes. She belongs with the ranks of Judi Dench, Helen Mirren etc.
@danalis: While I agree with some of your comments…too many entertainers do have a way over blown sense of self importance and sense of entitlement…obnoxiously so…but I think the industry and public feeds it and rewards it and exists on hype, lies, hypocrisy, contradictions, narcissism to sell buy in for images and products. I do like some of her work but also love Maggie Smith and Judi Dench they and actors like Paul Newman are a very rare breed.
Beautiful. Meryl Streep has been my favorite actress since I was a child. Can’t say anything but wonderful things about her!
Stunning.
@danalis I’d like to see you turn down an award for something you’ve worked really hard to accomplish. Garnering publicity is not meaningless and to say it is really shows a lack of understand of how **** works. You scoff at “Hollywood hype” yet here you are discussing celebrities lol
Meryl is a rare gem.
MERYL STREEP IS UNA BELLEZA !!!!
LA MEJOR ACTRIZ DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS !!!
The United Nations actress. She can do it all.
Meryl looks great for her age and body type. This black dress works so well in that environment and on the red carpet.
