Michelle Obama Covers Glamour’s Women of The Year Issue

Michelle Obama gets glitzy on the December cover of Glamour magazine, their “Women of the Year” issue.

The First Lady, 45, opened up about mentoring, role models and men:

On dating advice for women: “Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul…. When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

On keeping her sanity: “I have always tried to put my kids first, and then…put myself a really close second, as opposed to fifth or seventh. One thing that I’ve learned from male role models is that they don’t hesitate to invest in themselves.”

On her personal role models: “My mom, for sure. My dad. The teachers. For me, role-modeling was immediate, it was touchable…Children connect with who is in their lives, present and accounted for…That’s why we’re trying to encourage moms, teachers, fathers, to be that presence in their children’s lives, in their communities, because it really makes a difference.”

Who is she trying to fool!? Of course his bankbook matters!!

I’m not a gold digger, but I would have never dated a man who isn’t successful. PUHHLEASE.

Women that don’t consider a man’s income are idiots! Or perhaps they enjoy living from paycheck to paycheck. ha!!

Stunning cover, finally a woman who is stylish, beautiful AND intelligent!!!

She rocks!

True on the dating advice. his good looks are just a plus to his awesome personality

Wow, yet another kiss-ass article on the presidents family. And before you start pointing fingers I’d say the same thing if the media was all gushy on some other person in the white house.

Re: bankbook, I wouldn’t date men for their money, but as long as he has a job, that’s fine. We shouldn’t have to deal and take care of men’s b.s either. Women should always be able to support themselves, to brace themselves for the worst of situations.

Don’t get me wrong, Michelle Obama is brilliant but the cover is awkward-looking. It’s like she doesn’t know what to with her hands or something.

Whether you like MO or not (I happen to like her), she’s a straight talker and has interesting opinions. I like her candid interviews and what she’s saying here is pretty good advice. Btw, the cover shot is fabulous! Red and silver.. gorgeous and so Christmassy.

I agree you don’t just look at the bankbook, you do need to also look at the heart and soul of the person to be happy.

good interview.

“Stunning cover, finally a woman who is stylish, beautiful AND intelligent!!!”

I know! Before Michelle Obama came along, women just couldn’t be all three. In fact, I didn’t think it was even POSSIBLE for a woman to be stylish, beautiful AND intelligent. This must be the end of days. But, I’ll die happy because the world now has at least one woman who is stylish, beautiful AND intelligent.

2012…are we there yet?

Now America this is one SMART woman. Thank God she is on our side!!! Mr. President you are one lucky man!!!

I just throw up.

Wow..no matter how hard it is tried…she looks ugly…

Hideous. She looks like a Christmas ornament at the Dollar Store. OTOH, it DOES lower the bar for both beauty and intellect for ordinary women, so “Thanks, Mrs. O!”

I usually look forward to receiving my Glamour mag….this month will truly be an exception. As a born & bred Chicagoan, I have absolutely NO REASON to fawn over this woman.

WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO HER??

SHE COULDNT BE LESS DEPENDENT
SHES NOONE WITHOUT HER HUSBAND
SHES THE TOTAL STEREOTYPE OF A WOMEN WHICH SHOULD NOT EXIST ANYMORE

WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO HER??

SHE COULDNT BE LESS INDEPENDENT
SHES NOONE WITHOUT HER HUSBAND
SHES THE TOTAL STEREOTYPE OF A WOMEN WHICH SHOULD NOT EXIST ANYMORE

I was just struck by how awesome this is. Our first lady is smart, caring, beautiful and of African American descent. I truly never thought I would live to see the day.

Wow what an amazing woman! Americans are so proud!

What do you mean “she would not be anything without her husband”? This woman has several degrees….she can be anything that she wants to be without the president!! Stop hating on Michelle…she’s working it!!!

class from head to toe and smarts too..harvard, lawyer, mom, first lady. awesome.

not liking the cover so much but I like what she says in the interview

what a shocking surprise! Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize and fug wins woman of the year!

has the Pope made them saints yet?
