Cate Blanchett: A Streetcar Named Washington D.C.
Cate Blanchett goes for a morning walk with a friend on Saturday (November 7) in Washington D.C.
The 40-year-old Aussie actress is in town performing her critically acclaimed play, A Streetcar Named Desire. Last weekend, Cate attended the opening night reception of the play held at the Kennedy Center’s Embassy of Australia in D.C.
A Streetcar Named Desire continues through Nov. 21 at the Kennedy Center. The show is sold out!
FYI: Cate wore a pair of “laser lace” Ferragamo peep-toe shoes with metal heels at the opening night celebration.

I have to agree with Alice and Denise. Cate has lost too much weight. She is such a fabulous actress and seems like a terrific mom - I hope she hasn’t fallen into the Hollywood cliche of there is no such thing as too thin.

I wonder where the “she’s so skinny!” people have been for the past decade (minus the pregnant years)?!! Haha, wake up, she’s ALWAYS been this thin, ever since she first came on the scene with Elizabeth. Ya’ll act like this is something new. lol. Anyway, I caught her in DC for Streetcar and she blew everyone away! If you can find some way to get tix to this production, it’s fabulous! She convinced me for sure that she is THE premiere actress of her generation, no question! Beautiful woman!!!

I just wonder… Where are her kids? What is the point of having 3 children, bringing them with her in a 20+ hour flight, and then going out with a friend and leaving the kids with somebody else?
She is really amazing. I get her mixed up with Tilda Swinton some times.
She’s probably been working tirelessly on the play and plus she’s tall. Taller people usually are skinner. I’m between 5′7 and 5′8 and barely weigh 120, not by choice though. Regardless she’s a terrific actress, and very humble and sweet. I love Mrs. Blanchett.
