James Franco is getting excited about his General Hospital gig!
The 31-year-old actor spoke with New York magazine about his GH role, what he filmed on Monday and how soaps are different from movies…
On a cameo he filmed: “I was filming 30 Rock today. It was very fun. I worked with Tina Fey a little bit over the summer on the movie Date Night….I play myself but a very strange version.”
On what filming a soap’s like: “They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that’s what we planned to shoot in a single day. No ad-libbing.
“If I needed it, they said they had a TelePrompTer, but the regulars didn’t use it so I didn’t want to use it, either.”
On the difference between soaps and movies: “[Y]ou do one take. They’re going for one take because they have about four cameras for each setup.
“It’s one take: You do the whole scene and then you’re on to the next. That’s three or four pages in a moment.”

He said that he wanted a ‘challange’ and heard that soaps were hard to do … so he ask his agent to get him on a soap.

It’s strange, but I really think this was an experiment for him. The only thing is that GH is horrible now. Days or OLTL would have been a better choice.

the only thing i love on GH is Dante and Lulu! I think they went too far with Claudia’s killing… i hate sonny, jason, and sam now.. poor Johnny.

DOOL sucks. i never liked the dull romances on that soap. GH is more for the action oriented.

love GH and I love that his story is with Jason and Sam. I mean yeah a lot of others but I’m a huge Jason/Sam fan so this is fantastic news. James Franco, Steve Burton, and Kelly Monaco… it can’t get any better!

At least they have romances, unlike Sopranos wannabe GH. Ratings reflect how awful that show has become.

as far as i can tell. the ratings for GH increased last week. over 200 something viewers. whereas DOOL decreased.
