OlderCindy Crawford Releases Statement on Extortion Attempt
After a scary extortion plot involving a photo of their daughter bound and gagged, a representative for Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber has released a statement.
“A criminal complaint was filed today in federal court in Los Angeles by the U.S. Attorney’s office and the FBI stating that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford have been the victims of an on-going extortion scheme.
“This crime has been committed by Edis Kayalar, an acquaintance of a former nanny employed by the family.
“Mr. Kayalar threatened to sell an image taken of the couple’s then-seven-year-old daughter. There was no previous awareness by Mr. Gerber and Ms. Crawford of the existence of the photograph when they were contacted by Mr. Kayalar. The photo was taken by the former nanny as part of a purported game without the knowledge of the parents.
“The couple reported the extortion threat to the police and the FBI began a criminal investigation in the matter. Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”

uhm..yeah..just another situation which reminds us that not even with the nannies the children are not safe.
Supposedly the nanny tied her up and gagged her while playing a “game” and photographed it. How disgusting. I think they should prosecute the nanny as well as the guy trying to sell the photo. What is weird is that TMZ says they were contacted by the guy 6 weeks ago offering to sell the photo to them. What I want to know is did TMZ ever bother to contact the authorities or Cindy & Randy to make them aware that someone was shopping around a photo of their child? They did not make any mention of that, and if they knew and didn’t contact authorities then they are equally disgusting.
They would be better off looking after their own children. Good grief, there are some nutters around.

Sick! This nanny should be brought up on charges. Why on earth would a nanny, who is charged with looking out for a child’s well-being and safety, play a “game” that involves having a child be bound and gagged and then photographed?! wow, i’m surpried the daughter or her older brother didn’t tell about this “game”. The nanny should be charged for this incident! Anyone to bound and gag a child is a sick person. That poor innocent child was lied to and told it was a game and than taken advantage by the nany taken photos. The poor kid had no idea what was going on! A crime on an innocent child is wrong on so many levels. This story is DISTURBING AND REALLY MAKES ME MAD! If i was Cindy i would find that nanny and charge her for child abuse.
After reading some comments, I HAVE to speak up.
This family was victimized by extortion and possible forced assault. There is nothing funny about taking pictures of kids in bondage, whether a game or not. Nothing funny or cute at all.
Cindy Crawford has every right to feel violated. Her daughter was violated, possibly assaulted and put into a situation that endangered her. She has every right to seek charges and do everything possible to protect her family.
How would you feel is someone in your family was victimized this way? You would feel more than outrage - it would be a case of someone coming into your home and turning that safe haven into a crime scene.
Period.

I can’t believe someone tried to use this as blackmail. Perhaps they were saying she was a bad parent, but its amazing that it would be very easy to catch the culprit.
Nice games she plays. Did Mommy or Daddy teach her that one? Or both? Maybe they should be arrested.
