Laura Bell Bundy got her big start in Broadway musicals playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Glinda in Wicked and Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray. Now the Kentucky-born performer is now taking on the country music scene. Oh my god, oh my god, you guysss!
Her upcoming album, Achin’ and Shakin’, isn’t out for a few months but the video to her fun first single “Giddy On Up” was just released. The dance sequence is killer! Check it out below and you can buy the song on iTunes, which I just did!!!
FYI: Laura Bell penned all but one of the songs on Achin’ and Shakin’, which is essentially two separate albums. Achin’– a collection of slow and sultry country songs — and Shakin’, a group of sassy songs that are equal parts humor, confidence and attitude. She actually got her start on the movie Jumanji. if you remember she was the girl in the beginning that was playing the game in the beginning of the movie, she got chased by bats or whatever.

I love her! I met her backstage after one of her legally blonde shows in NY and she was so sweet. So down to earth and talented. I’m so happy for her! …and she sings amazing live.

I give her kudos for trying. Of course she has a great voice and I like that she is taking country music back to more authentic routes but she is programmed to give over-the-top performance via Broadway style and it’s a bit too much for a music video. As others have said it just comes off as cheesy. Whereas the exaggerated facial expressions would be perfect on the stage of a musical comedy theatre it’s just way too much for this.
And holy hell - who said her stomach is too big? I think this woman’s body is near perfection. I would do anything to be in such great shape! For heaven’s sake!
