LeBron James Leaves Cleveland for Miami

Basketball superstar Lebron James chooses the Miami Heat as his next NBA team after an announcement at the Boys & Girls Club of America on Thursday (July 8) in Greenwich, Connecticut.

LeBron will be joining fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh down in South Beach to create a “superteam”.

The 25-year-old Ohio-born native will be leaving his hometown of Akron and disappointing Cavalier fans. During the broadcast, a Lebron James jersey was burned in Cleveland, to which he responded, “I can’t get involved in that. One thing I didn’t want to do was make an emotional decision. I wanted to do what was best for LeBron James.”

The Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets, along with their respective fans, were also all let down after learning of Lebron‘s decision.

Proceeds of $2.5 million from tonight’s hour-long program will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of America.

It’s pretty ugly here in the N.E.O. regarding Lebron and his decision. Lots of pi$$ed and angry people. My facebook wall is filled with nothing but comments like “burn his house down!” “lebron memorabillia burning party!” etc…and those are the nicer ones. He really was the only thing Cleveland had…lets face it, the Browns are a joke, and no one give a hoot about the Indians. Oh well, not a fan of any of that. My loyalty lies with the Pittsburgh Penguins :)

This guy’s arrogance is unbelievable. A-Roid has nothing on this jerk.

Don’t feel bad for Cavs fans that are being so barbaric. It’s a game people! Give your jersey to some poor kid if you hate it that much.
However, Lebron and Dwyane Wade will regret this decision. Wade already won a ring and was the face of the heat. Now he has to place second fiddle to Lebron. Lebron will never be respected as an all time great needing such a stacked team to win a ring. Lebron should not have worried about being in Michael Jordan’s shadow and just gone to the Bulls where he had the greatest chance to build a dynasty. No matter how many championships the Miami Heat wins with these clowns, they will not be respected as an NBA dynasty. As for Torontonians, you guys are completely screwed without Bosh. Unfortunately your sports management there is pitiful.

The Cleveland fans are jacked up. LeBron gave them all those yeasr being on a losing tesm. Enough. He wants a championship ring. You’re not gonna get that being in Clevland.

He’ll burn out on the scene and won’t have longevity.

We New Yorkers are not amused. Why are you having this major press conference in Greenwhich, a New York suburb just 20 minutes away from the city and not make your choice the New York Knicks?

Can you blame the guy? He has money, fame, youth, passable looks, height, the great stats from his playing but no championship. Who the heck would want to stay in Cleveland?

@new yorker:

He’s going to Miami, which is the sixth borough of NY. Same thing.

he donates money to the boys and girls club and we’re supposed to applaud him for disrespecting his home city (as well as all the other teams he strung along) and turning this whole fiasco into an embarrassing spectacle? no thanks…i have higher standards. i hope chicago, boston, or orlando beat these egotistical fools to a pulp.

@michelle: “disrespecting” aww… the little girl is pretending to know something about sports.. isn’t that cute. hahahahahahahaha.. he gave that sorry city 7 years and took them from 16 wins a season to championship contenders.. he owes them nothing, in fact.. they owe him, A LOT! just remember what the cavs were before him.
