OlderEllen DeGeneres Leaves American Idol
Ellen DeGeneres will not return to the judging panel on American Idol for the show’s upcoming season.
Here’s what the 52-year-old entertainer had to say in a statement:
“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.”
“I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”
Idol is said to be undergoing a major shakeup after Simon Cowell’s departure. Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson and Elton John have all been rumored to be a part of the show’s tenth season.

She’s one of my favorite people and I love her show, but I didn’t like her on idol at all.

Best decision. She wasn’t a good fit for this show at all. I love her stand up, but this wasn’t for her.

Thank goodness. She was the odd person out. They should also not get any singer/artist as a judge. Let them do the mentor stuff. The judge should be someone in the business who can make deals and has a history of being a starmaker.
I wonder if Ellen will still keep her record label going.
Last year was terrible and even Simon still a judge could not save it. I didn’t watch past the audition rounds and could not tell you who ever won. The contestants were awful. Ellen is just abandoning a sinking ship.
gosh they just need to cancel this show, i watched the first couple of seasons and then just stoped because american idol is overrated

Initially, I was looking forward to Ellen being on Idol because I’m a big fan, but it was clear from the beginning that she really had no business being on there. She was funny, but you could tell that she really had no idea on what to say to the contestants.
I’m really starting to dread next season, especially after the mess this past season was and because they’re actually considering Jessica Simpson. It’s almost like their grasping at straws now.

She was never a good fit , they need to bring paula back, they need to get raid of Kara too ,she is so annoying. They should bring Jessica on ,she knows how to sing at least and she is funny.
Heard jennifer lopez will be taking Ellen’s place. Final nail in the coffin.

With Simon Cowell gone, it’s all downhill with AI despite getting Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. I give this show 2 more seasons.
