Jason Reitman says a projection error -- not Tom Cruise -- was responsible when a Katie Holmes' sex scene was missing during a screening of her upcoming movie, "Thank You for Smoking," at the Sundance Film Festival. "I was sitting there in the theater, the scene was missing, and my immediate thought was, 'Oh my God, Fox cut the scene out of my movie,'" Reitman told AP Radio in an interview. "And then I realized, 'No, if it's at the end of the reel, the projector probably just accidentally cut it out.'" Some blamed Cruise, Holmes' fiance, speculating that he had pressured Reitman, son of "Ghost Busters" director Ivan Reitman, to remove the scene. "That's a fun story. I'd read that story. The problem is that it's not true," Reitman said. "The problem with 'projection error' is that it's the truth but it sounds like a lie. It sounds an awful lot like 'wardrobe malfunction.'"

Prison Break Busts Out Again

Fox's hit drama Prison Break hasn't emerged from lock-down yet—it returns Monday, March 20—but the show is already setting the stage for a second round of surprising revelations. In an episode slated to air April 3, the series takes a page from the Lost playbook by flashing back into the pasts of its main characters and offering clues ahout what their futures will he when they break out of Fox River State Penitentiary.

Mardi Gras with Britney Spears

New Orleans, Louisiana :: Happy in her new tresses is Britney Spears with husband Kevin Federline, 27, leaving jazzy contemporary Emeril's (eponymous flagship restaurant of Chef Emeril Lagasse's located in the Warehouse District), which serves "new New Orleans cuisine."  The 24-year-old pop star also made an appearance on this morning's Good Morning America --  "I am honored to be a part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year.  It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions and I am really looking forward to being involved."  More pictures in the gallery!

Tyson Beckford's Dream Street

Male model Tyson Beckford (part-Chinese, part-Jamaican, part-Panamanian) has a movie still in the works.  Urban drama Dream Street (Plotline :: A story about the human spirits ability to rise above hardship and tragedy. This beguiling urban drama follows the story of 'Lola Mars', a beautiful and gifted hip-hop producer/writer as she tries to rebuild her life and dreams after a freak accident leaves her financially and spiritually bankrupt and outcast) was initially scheduled for a 2005 release but is now slated for a 2006 release.  Cross your fingers! Avril's Acting Debut

Singer Avril Lavigne, 21, will soon be flexing her acting chops in three upcoming films -- Over The Hedge, The Flock and Fast Food Nation. Over the Hedge (Release Date :: May 19th, 2006) has Avril lending her voice talent as Heather the possum, daughter to Ozzie the Possum (voiced by William Shatner).  The Flock (Release Date :: October 6th, 2006) has Avril playing the girlfriend of a guy who's interrogated by Agent Erroll (Richard Gere). Fast Food Nation (Release Date :: TBD Fall 2006) has Avril playing a college student who protests the practices of the cattle industry. Co-stars include Patricia Arquette, Bobby Cannavale, Greg Kinnear, Ethan Hawke, Lou Taylor Pucci and Wilmer Valderrama.  Above is engaged couple Avril Lavigne and Sum 41's Deryck Whibley on their way to Parisian restaurant L'Avenue.  More pictures in the gallery!

The Whole Pitt and Caboodle

Paris, France ::  Brad Pitt, 42, Angelina Jolie, 30, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 4, and Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 1, returned to their rented apartment yesterday afternoon after going grocery shopping and grabbing some grub. BAMZ picked up lunch at McDonald's and a few items from Le Marché FRANPRIX Grocery Store before returning home.  Maddox and Zahara were spotted rattling their boxes of the new tic tac® Bold! Fruit breath mints and in even bigger news, Zahara dropped her milk bottle and Brad had to pick it up. Sienna Miller For Pepe Jeans

The O.C.'s Cam Gigandet

Gigantic Gigandet gets things get hot and heavy in an upcoming episode of The O.C. After much insistence by Volchok (Cam Gigandet, 23) to "talk" to Marissa (Mischa Barton, 20), Marissa kisses Volchok and a whole lot more! The O.C. episode "The Undertow" airs Thursday, March 23 (9PM ET/PT) on FOX.  Newcomer Cam Gigandet also made brief appearances on daytime's The Young & The Restless as well as the short-lived WB drama Jack & Bobby. Jessica is The Perfect Employee

Sante Fe, New Mexico :: Singer/actress Jessica Simpson, 25, filmed scenes for The Perfect Employee with director Greg Coolidge (bottom right) this past Saturday evening and this morning.   In Touch is reporting that the actress will be paid $1 million plus $267,000 as a perk package for the film in which her character will speak a total of 806 words. (That's $1,240 per word if you're rough on your math skills.) This past Thursday, Gov. Bill Richardson and his wife Barbara of New Mexico hosted a dinner for Jessica Simpson and her parents, Joe and Tina, at the New Mexico governor's mansion. The Hobbits On Parade

New Orleans, Louisiana :: The good times rolled yesterday in New Orleans, just six months after Hurricane Katrina. Lord of the Ring actors Elijah Wood, 25, and Sean Astin, 35, went wild and and crazy returning as Mardi Gras' Kings of Bacchus during the New Orleans Bacchus Parade.  Elijah and Sean threw out beaded necklaces and other trinkets to all the party goers as one biggest and glitziest parades rolled through the city.  Sean Astin plays CTU's own personal hobbit as officious Homeland Security liaison Lynn McGill on FOX's 24.  Elijah Wood will be starring in Emilio Estevez's Bobby, which tells the story of the assassination of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
