Russell Crowe is Sherlock Holmes

Rugby team Rabbitohs part owner Russell Crowe celebrates with his 3-year-old son Charlie Crowe after the Rabbitohs’ victory over the Eels on Sunday in Sydney, Australia.

Russell, 42, had attended the round two NRL match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Parramatta Eels at Telstra Stadium.

The Gladiator star is now being touted to star as Sherlock Holmes. A source tells UK’s The Daily Express, “Unlike previous films this one is going to focus more on Holmes’ physical attributes, including his talent for bare-knuckle and sword fighting, which were both mentioned in the original books.

“Russell is the favorite for the role as it’s felt he’ll give the character the action-man-like qualities the part is going to require. He’s also proved in past films that he can pull off a convincing British accent.

“It’s hoped the new story will retain the traditional flavor of the original books and it will be made in participation with the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle estate.”

Frequent flier Drew Barrymore rocks out a new pair of sunglasses as returns to Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

She arrived at LAX airport with her fave Bose TriPort headphones that she wore back on Feb. 6. Drew, 32, also travels old school with the same Jansport backpack all the time.

The Music and Lyrics star sported her fave brown deconstructed sweatshirt that she wore to the airport on Feb. 22 and a dog adoption event on Feb. 19.

Drew and director boyfriend Spike Jonze were last spotted making out during a romantic date two weeks ago in Santa Monica, Calif.

As reported yesterday, Aussie actor Hugh Jackman is back in Australia to film his new movie, the Baz Luhrmann epic Australia, co-starring fellow Aussie actress Nicole Kidman.

Hugh, 38, was spotted with wife Deborra-Lee Furness at The Rocks in Sydney along with their children, Oscar, 6, and Ava, 20 months. You can watch video of Hugh and his family strolling around town from a local Australian newscast.

Congratulations to Max Crumm and Laura Osnes for being cast as the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Dumbrowski in the $10 million revival of Grease, opening on Broadway this summer!

Max, 21, and Laura, 20, were chosen by and voted for by America, announced Sunday during the final episode of the NBC reality series Grease: You’re the One That I Want.

Other Grease cast members known so far: Kirsten Wyatt is Frenchie, Matthew Saldivar is Kenickie, Robyn Hurder is Marty Maraschino, Jenny Powers is Betty Rizzo, and Jose Restrepo is Sonny, and Lindsay Mendez is Jan.

Christina Sivrich (The Wedding Singer) has also joined the ensemble, understudying Frenchie, Marty, and Miss Lynch.

The musical opens Aug. 19 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Preview performances begin July 24.

Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban look happier than ever together, holding hands and walking into the world premiere of Distracted starring Rita Wilson at the Mark Taper Forum on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif.

Nicole is expected to arrive in Sydney, Australia next week for pre-production on her new film Australia. Her co-star Hugh Jackman is already in town.

Keith recently opened up to UK’s The Sunday Telegraph:

• On wanting children of his own:”I am looking forward to fatherhood. I have always wanted to be a good dad. My brother’s got two kids and he’s an excellent dad and I think we both have that sense of being home and being solid family guys.
• On being a stepfather to Nicole’s two adopted kids, Isabella and Connor: “I don’t get to see the kids as much as probably a lot of stepdads would, but it is a good relationship.”
• On turning 40 in October: “It feels just right. I don’t feel what I thought that wretched age was going to be like. I have done a lot of things and it has been full up to this point, especially the last few years, so I am grateful for that.”
• On his marriage to Nicole: As far as being a married man, it is the best thing I have ever done. And it is not just about being married; to me, it is about being married to her, to that woman because she has just saved my life — absolutely saved it. Everything happens for a reason so the timing of that (rehab) was divinely inspired.”
• On being forced to cut short their January holiday on the NSW South Coast in after a run in with Australian paparazzi: “Because Nic and I are so private, it tends to make people want to see what that privacy is really all about. If we were plastered in the magazines all the time and sort of got pictures willingly, it would wear off and probably people wouldn’t want them so much. The fact that we actually go out of our way to be a bit more elusive tends to exacerbate the situation but I would just rather have a more quiet life, like we do. It is relatively quiet compared to most, I think.”

Halle Berry (in Dolce & Gabbana) serves as honorary chair at The Jenesse Center Silver Rose Gala on Sunday afternoon at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Halle, 40, helped run a live “Fashion Is Inspiring” runway show and silent auction benefiting the center, a domestic violence intervention program and a shelter for women and children in South Central Los Angeles.

Halle has said, “This charity really does a lot of good. The Jenesse Center I’ve been involved with for many years. They really reach out and put their arms around the community, especially the women and children who are battered and who are running for shelter.”

Participating designers who donated pieces for the show included: Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Christian Louboutin, J. Mendel, Brian Reyes, Monique Lhuillier, and Luca Luca.

Nicole’s rep recently addressed Nicole’s condition of low blood sugar levels, “In her ongoing effort to focus on her well-being, Nicole has recently been diagnosed with hypoglycemia. She is taking steps to manage it.”
