Robert Downey, Jr.: ‘I’ve Never Had It This Good’

Robert Downey, Jr. covers the November 27 issue of EW, and he tells the magazine that while he’s happy to have opportunities in the entertainment industry, like next month’s Sherlock Holmes, he can “already see its inevitable decay.”

Here’s what the 44-year-old actor had to say about living up to a huge role, having a life outside of work and what he’d like to do in the future…

On living up to a well-known character: “Holmes is a huge iconic character, and this is a really big movie. [shrug] I’m just a guy.”

On having a life outside acting: “Susan [Downey, his wife] and I want to begin to be in our lives as much as we are in our jobs. I’d love just to sit here and say, ‘What movie’s playing tonight?’ I’d love to finish the new book about D-Day I’m reading. I love painting, I love music.”

On the future: “I’ve never had it this good – this is my day in the sun – and I certainly don’t want to look a gift horse in the molars….But here’s the thing: I can only be a guy on a call sheet probably, I don’t know, maybe a couple more times. It’s something I’m so grateful to have in my palm, and yet I already see its inevitable decay.”

Jude Law walks home from Manhattan’s East Village on Thursday (November 19).

The 36-year-old actor is currently starring as the title character in a stage production of Hamlet on Broadway. The show runs until December 6 and has already made more than $2.5 million, the AP reports.

Jude is also gearing up to promote Sherlock Holmes, where he’ll play Dr. Watson to Robert Downey, Jr.’s Holmes.

“People think the movie is going to be, like, this modern punk-rock version where we’re all wearing high-tops,” Jude told EW. “It’s actually more true to the books than they’re guessing.”

Sherlock Holmes opens Christmas Day (December 25).

Kristen Stewart keeps dry in a Burberry trench while signing autographs before the New Moon screening at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema in New York City on Thursday (November 19).

The 19-year-old actress later removed her trench to reveal a stunning olive-colored gown by Valentino.

Co-star Taylor Lautner recently spoke to the LA Times about working with Kristen. “It’s so funny. We have such a similar relationship to Bella and Jacob,” he said.

“We’re very close. We get along so well. We’re so open with each other. We can talk about anything. We can be completely open and honest with each other and discuss anything and everything whenever we went. We were always discussing Jacob and Bella’s relationship.”

Jennifer Lopez and famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin had dinner together on Tuesday, November 17 to talk shoes - a pair for J.Lo’s performance at the American Music Awards, that is!

The 40-year old singer, who’s pictured at rehearsals at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Thursday (November 19), will have a pair of red-soled Louboutin shoes designed especially for her to wear during Sunday’s AMAs, JustJared.com has learned.

She’ll be performing her new single, appropriately entitled “Louboutins,” on the show.

Expect an on-stage costume change and fireworks during her performance on the show, which airs Sunday (November 22) at 8/7c on ABC!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon pulled in a massive $26.3 million at North American box offices in midnight showings on Thursday (November 19).

The previous record was set by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which made $22.2 million in midnight screenings when it was released this past July.

The vampire romance movie will rake in a total of around $100 million in its opening weekend. That’s bloody amazing!

Rihanna (in David Koma) performs at the first-ever concert on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas cruise ship on Thursday (November 19) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Oasis is the world’s largest cruise ship and cost $1.5 billion to build. It’s 5x bigger than the Titanic and accommodates 6,300 passengers.

The concert was the first to promote Rihanna’s new album, Rated R, which is due out on Nov. 23.
