Alicia Silverstone promotes her new cookbook, “The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet” at Book Soup in West Hollywood on Thursday (October 15).

The 33-year-old vegan actress was supported by her rocker husband Christopher Jarecki at the event. The book includes 75 natural vegan recipes and a three-step diet program that Alicia believes differs from other popular diets.

“What those diets offer you is weight-loss period,” said Alicia. “And yeah, weight loss is good. But you’re not learning how to eat, you’re learning how to eat less. I haven’t had to think about calories in 11 years. That’s what I want to offer people — a plan that is going to nourish your soul and make you healthy on all levels.”

Alicia Silverstone opens up in the September 2009 issue of Health — she apparently gardens naked and spends a lot of time with Woody Harrelson, who isn’t afraid to get naked either. Here’s what the 32-year-old Clueless actress had to say:

On her new book, “The Kind Diet,” which reveals her plant-based diet: “You can hear your needs and desires more clearly. You’re just more juicy—there’s just this lightness that happens. …Once you’re informed, then you can be really gentle and kind to yourself, but giving yourself all the fights life has to offer – like mental clarity and vitality – all while making the planet better”

On gardening naked: “I think it evolved through my new happiness with my body—and also through cool friends. I used to spend a lot of time with Woody Harrelson, and he’s not afraid to get naked.”

On her vegan diet being a lifestyle: “It’s weird to be 32 now and feel and look younger… Right after I first made the switch to a plant-based diet, people were literally telling me, ‘What have you done? You’re sparkling.’”

Former Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone has joined the cast of of the Broadway play Time Stands Still.

Per Variety, the play is about the right to personal happiness in a world of suffering. Laura Linney, 45, plays a photojournalist struggling to readjust to domestic life in New York after she and her foreign correspondent partner return from a war zone. Alicia, 32, will play the seemingly superficial girlfriend of the couple’s magazine writer friend.

Time Stands Still will begin previews on Jan. 5 at Manhattan Theater Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theater.

There is a storm being caused by gay marriage and we are all in serious trouble. Sophia Bush and a bunch of other celebs got together to shoot The Gaythering Storm, a Funny or Die parody of the The Gathering Storm ad made by the National Organization for marriage, which preaches against same-sex unions.

The comedy sketch also features: Alicia Silverstone, Lance Bass, George Takei, Sarah Chalke and Jason Lewis.

• Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, Fall Out Boy and Usher will perform at the fourth annual Fashion Rocks concert. Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Ludacris, Martina McBride and Santana are also scheduled to appear. The show, hosted by Entourage star Jeremy Piven, will be held Sept. 6 at Radio City Music Hall. It will air the following night in a two-hour special on CBS.
