Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt turned to fertility treatments to conceive twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, reports Us Weekly.

“They conceived through in vitro fertilization,” a source tells the mag. “They both desperately wanted more babies soon.”

Apparently the chance of having fraternal twins at Angelina’s age (33) naturally is under 1 percent; with in vitro, the chances are 25 percent.

Continues the source, “[Angie did it so] she wouldn’t have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant. She could just knock it out.”

FYI: In vitro fertilization costs around $12,000 per procedure.

After leaving the French hospital where she gave birth to twins the weekend before last, Angelina Jolie was seen at her family’s Chateau Miraval property, a beautiful little paradise castle in the South of France.

Joining Angie for a day of fun in the sun was partner Brad Pitt along with their children, Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2. Brad’s parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, were also present!

Angie gave birth to Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon on Saturday, July 12. She and the fam will be flying off to Greece next!

Angelina Jolie has left the French hospital where she gave birth to twins last week.

The Lenval hospital in the southern French city of Nice said in a statement on its website: “Angelina Jolie left the clinic Santa Maria of Foundation Lenval around 4AM on July 19 with her babies, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. The mother and her babies are doing very well.”

The Fondation Lenval also thanked the Jolie-Pitts for choosing the hospital. It also thanked the hospital staff “for the attention and care they paid to the family and the journalists around the hospital who did their best to respect their privacy.”

No word on where Brad, Angelina, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne are headed to next…

The Jolie-Pitt baby pictures aren’t available yet but celebrities are sending their well wishes anyway to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon.

Angie’s musician pal Wyclef Jean: “I’m willing to babysit for them! They will do well. I have a lot of well wishes for them.”

Angie’s costar from her upcoming movie, The Changeling: “I saw [Angie] with kids on-set and she’s just such a wonderful mom. You see her with the kids and it’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s the way it’s supposed to be.’”

Earlier today, Angie’s older brother, James Haven, was spotted visiting the five-day-old twins at Nice’s Hospital Lenval.

After the birth of his beautiful baby twins, Brad Pitt met with the mayor of Nice and kept repeating to him, “I’m the happiest father ever.”

Mayor Christian Estrosi, who visited Brad and Angelina Jolie in their hospital room, told the local newspaper Nice-Matin, “[Brad] told me we chose one of the best hospitals in the world, one of the best doctors, one of the best medical teams. And also the most beautiful bay in the world.”

The twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, were born Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France. According to Nice-Matin, the babies spent Saturday night in Angie’s room and she took care of them by herself.

Angie’s obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann, updated People about Angie’s recovery and her newborns: “They are all very well, very well. Everything is okay.”

Angelina Jolie’s actor father, Jon Voight, has been busy shooting the upcoming season of the hit FOX drama, 24.

But The Insider caught up with the 69-year-old actor on his film break to ask about his two new grandchildren, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Voight said, “I am deeply happy. I’m over the moon. It’s magnificent. In this world, all we can hope for is that mommy and the kids are healthy. I’m very excited and thanks for letting me send my love to them. If I were called today, I’d be there.”

Outside the hospital, Sussmann shared how smoothly the delivery of Knox and Vivienne went:

On Brad and Angie during the labor and delivery: “[They] were talking, they were together. It was an epidural, so [Angelina] was awake and speaking and laughing. They were happy.”

On Brad never leaving Angie’s side: “He was my assistant! [He even cut the babies' umbilical cords!] He was … perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional.”

On when Angie and the babies will leave the hospital: “I don’t know. She will stay for a few days. You know, in Europe it isn’t like in the United States, where the patients go home after three days. They will stay a bit longer until everything is okay.”

On the delivery in general: “Absolutely no problems. The babies are fine. The babies are with the mother and father and they are fine.”

Angie, 33, gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night at the Santa Maria clinic of the Lenval Foundation in Nice, France. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.

Angie’s obstetrician Dr. Michael Sussmann told People, “The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly. Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well. The mother and father are very, very happy.”
