Ann Curry: Angelina Jolie’s Got An Exciting Project In The Works

Ann Curry has interviewed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie many times. Here’s what the 52-year-old NBC journalist told OK! about the power couple:

On Angelina: “I like her a lot. I see her as a very smart person, a very compassionate person who does movies.”

On Brad and Angie highlighting about what really matters in life: “What I love is that when you talk to actors you know the good they can do – it’s really touching because there are so many reasons why they could be just selfish and focus on themselves, but they’re not. When very very powerful people like Angie and Brad are focused on lovely projects that really change peoples lives you just want to applaud them, it’s just fantastic.”

On Angie’s upcoming project: “In fact I may be talking to Angie coming up very soon. It’s something important and I’m excited to see her again.”

Angelina Jolie Covers Harper’s Bazaar July 2009

Hollywood goddess Angelina Jolie is the July 2009 cover girl for Harper’s Bazaar’s. Here are some snippets from the lead story “Why Women Want Angelina Jolie’s Life” via essayist Naomi Wolf:

—- Polls also show that if women — not just lesbian and bisexual women but straight women — had to choose a female lover, they would want to sleep with Angelina Jolie. In other words, women both identify with her and desire her.

—- Her persona hits an unprecedented level of global resonance — and makes women want to be with her and be her at the same time — because she has created a life narrative that is not just personal. Rather, it is archetypal. And the archetype is one that really, for the first time in modern culture, brings together almost every aspect of female empowerment and liberation.

—- The magic of Jolie’s self-presentation? She makes the claim, with her life and actions, that, indeed, you can get away with it. All of it. Against every Western convention, she has managed to draw together all of these kinds of female liberation and empowerment. And her gestures determinedly transgress social boundaries — boundaries of convention, race, class, and gender — giving many of us a vicarious thrill.

Angelina Jolie Takes Time Magazine

Angelina Jolie takes to Time Magazine to voice her case against Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, who has been indicted on seven counts of war crimes and five counts of crimes against humanity.

The 33-year-old refugee advocate writes, “Friday is a defining moment in the history of justice. The members of the United Nations Security Council will be presented with the results of the International Criminal Court’s Darfur investigation — an investigation that they requested. Their response will determine whether there is going to be an international standard of justice that holds perpetrators accountable for the worst crimes in the world.”

She continues, “Today the Security Council member states will be faced with a simple decision — to embrace impunity or to end it. As they are considering Bashir’s fate they are also considering their own.”
