Jessica Simpson is Frightening

Eva Longoria bruised her ribs was taken to the hospital after being injured on the set of Desperate Housewives. “Eva slipped on one of the stairs coming out of her trailer,” her publicist, Liza Anderson, said yesterday. The actress will not require any time off for the injury. Eva also hurt herself on the set of the ABC show in August 2005. She was hit in the head by a piece of equipment and needed emergency attention.
Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook cuddled Wednesday night at the premiere party for their film, Employee of the Month, at Tejune. Spies say they curled up in a booth together and whispered into each other’s ears all night. The two left together with Jessica’s hairdresser, Ken Paves. At the film’s premiere, Jessica told the Daily News she’s happy she didn’t have to bare as much skin for her role. “I’m just a normal, all-American, strait-laced, Midwestern girl,” Jessica said.
Madonna visited an orphanage in Malawi yesterday, handing out copies of her book “The English Roses” to a crowd of AIDS orphans as her publicist dismissed claims that she was going to adopt a child herself. Andrina Mchiela, a senior official with Malawi’s Ministry for Gender and Child Welfare, said she believes the singer’s plans to adopt “remain unchanged.” Meanwhile, according to the Post, Madonna wants to drill wells in Malawi so the children will have clean water.
The two-day auction for hundreds of Cher’s goods fetched $3.5 million. A black 2005 Bentley Continental GT Coupe received the highest bid of $204,000 and of Cher’s vintage gown collection, a black Bob Mackie-designed got the highest bid at $60,000 - about twice the asking price.

Lindsay Lohan will reportedly soon move out of L.A.’s Chateau Marmont — where she’s been living for over a year — and into a $2.85 million pad in the Sierra towers. Apparently the Marmont pressured Lindsay to leave because her late-night partying was disruptive.
George Clooney tactfully shrugged off suggestions that he might run for office Monday, even though fans have started calling for the liberal-minded activist to run for President in 2008. Clooney was on hand for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s signing of legislation aimed at helping to stop violence in Darfur.

Ashlee Simpson made her debut last night in the musical Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre. According to reports, she pulled off a flawless performance in the role of femme fatale Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger in the film verson). Ashlee said, “The play absolutely is all about celebrity and wanting to be famous and have your name in the papers. In that sense, it’s been kind of cool because I’ve really got to connect to that because I’ve seen that world and been in that world… Doing theatre has been extremely humbling because it’s not about who you are. You are not a celebrity when you come here. Everyone is equal – everyone has to work together.” The muscal number that riled up the crowd the most was “Roxie” because Ashlee poked fun at the nose job talk in tabloids. Lyrics as follows:

Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures are parting ways. The studio will sever its 14-year relationship with Cruise’s film production company because "his recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount." "It’s nothing to do with his acting ability, he’s a terrific actor. But we don’t think that someone who effectuates creative suicide and costs the company revenue should be on the lot." Cruise’s partner, Paula Wagner said their company has already obtained commitments from two hedge funds, whose names would be announced soon.

Paris Hilton tells Blender magazine she cries when she hears her album because "it’s so good." The hotel heiress, whose debut album " Paris" will hit stores next Tuesday, also tells the magazine, "I’m always playing a character." "I don’t act like myself in public, because I don’t really want to show everyone the real me. Because I have no privacy whatsoever, the only thing I have is who I really am."
Lance Armstrong told sources at ESPN that Jake Gyllenhaal would portray him in a biopic. Armstrong said Matthew McConaughey had also wanted the part, but lost to Gyllenhaal.
Hilary and Haylie Duff’s $15 million movie Material Girls only pulled in $4.6 million in its opening weekend, finishing in ninth place.
