Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Bar Refaeli unveils Southwest Airlines’ SI One at LaGuardia airport in New York City on Wednesday (February 11).

The 23-year-old Israeli supermodel’s SI photo shoot is featured and wrapped around the SI One, a Boeing 737-700 aircraft. Bar is flying off to Las Vegas for a huge celebrating party later tonight.

“This is weird,” Bar laughed as she took photos with SI One.

Young air traffic controllers ogled at Bar and took pictures of her with their cell phones. Cameraman Brian Prahl asked, “Shouldn’t you guys be guiding planes?”

Bar Refaeli chatted with People before sharing the news of her Sports Illustrated cover model status with her friends, family or boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio. Here’s an snippet of what the 23-year-old Israeli model had to say:

What will your grandparents say about your sexy photo spread? They are so proud! My grandma says she walks down the street and people ask her, ‘Are you Bar Refaeli’s grandmother?’ I’m like, dude – I mean, you’re very beautiful, but we don’t really look alike! We have 60 years between us. She’s so proud. She keeps every single article on me.

Was getting this cover a goal of yours? It was my dream. When I was 15 and started modeling, my agent came to my house with Sports Illustrated magazines and taught me to look at the girls and the way they communicated with the camera. I learned from them.

Do you think Leo will like the cover? Are you two happy together? I don’t know. I really, really love it. I’m sure people will, too. I am very happy!

Bikini-clad Bar Refaeli lands the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2009 Swimsuit Issue.

The cover, which was shot in Cancun, was revealed during Tuesday’s Late Show with David Letterman. The 23-year-old Israeli model was just revealed as the cover model but was not a guest on the show. However, she WILL be a guest on Wednesday’s show. Be sure to tune in!

“What? I’m going to be on Letterman? Wow!” Bar said when being briefed on her upcoming schedule. “I can’t believe this. It’s been my dream to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated since I was 15 and I finally got it. I still can’t believe it.”

Bar is currently dating Leonardo DiCaprio.

The 23-year-old Israeli model will be revealed as the cover model for the 2009 Swimsuit Edition on tonight’ tonight’s Late Show with David Letterman. Unfortunately, she will not be a guest on tonight’s show.

The 34-year-old actor was presented with the International Green Film Award by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. The award is akin to a “Green Oscar,” offering a platform for environmental activists and dedicated artists to draw attention as well as strengthen and encourage the public conscience for environmental issues. The Award comes with a $250,000 donation for an environmental foundation or film project.

Leo’s girlfriend Bar Refaeli was seen catch a flight from LAX airport in Los Angeles to NYC on Sunday (February 8). She’ll be doing press for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover!!!
