Superman Returns star Brandon Routh has joined the NBC cult show Chuck for a multi-episode arc.

I love this show even more now!

EW’s Michael Ausiello reports the 29-year-old actor will play “Shaw, a mysterious new spy who takes control as the new leader of Operation Bartwoski, becoming a mentor to Chuck (Zachary Levi) and a rival in his affections for Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).”

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh dons a flak jacket, playing a member of an FBI anti-terrorism team for his upcoming suspense thriller, Unthinkable, in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Gil Bellows also plays a member of the FBI anti-terrorism team run by Agent Brody (Carrie-Ann Moss). With the help of a black-ops agent (Samuel L. Jackson), they’re assigned by an FBI director (Martin Donovan) to interrogate an American Muslim man (Michael Sheen) claiming to have nuclear bombs planted in three U.S. cities.

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh and his actress wife Courtney Ford enjoy a shopping spree together at Westfield Mall in Century City, Calif. on Thursday. The couple also dined at Gulfstream restaurant.

Brandon, 28, and Courtney, 29, married on November 24, 2007 at the El Capitan Ranch in Santa Barbara. Among the guests were Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Ashley Olsen, and Winona Ryder.

Routh has endorsed Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential race and the general election.

Life & Style reports that Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, 27, will marry his longtime girlfriend, Courtney Ford, 29, on Nov. 24 at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, Calif.

“It’s going to be an old-fashioned ceremony, on the beach at sundown,” says an insider. The groom will wear an Armani suit, the bride, a dress designed by a friend, adds the insider, and Brandon’s Superman co-stars, including Kate Bosworth, are scheduled to attend. “Brandon’s a very traditional guy,” says an insider. “He can’t wait to get married.”

The couple first met at Hollywood’s “Lucky Strike” Lanes, where Routh was working as a bartender before his career took off. Literally.

• Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures are parting ways. The studio will sever its 14-year relationship with Cruise’s film production company because "his recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount." Superman Returns is still currently the #2 box office hit in US theaters after more than a week and a half into its debut. The movie stars young stars, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and Brandon Routh as Clark Kent (aka Superman).

Except for the occasional cheesy lines between the two characters mentioned above, the movie was surprisingly good and entertaining (IMO, Hollywood has been butchering most comic-to-film releases).

WOW WOW WEE WAA WAA! From the moment I saw the trailer last month, I knew Superman Returns was going to be a fantastic film. (Conversely, during the same week, I was severely disappointed in a 7-minute clip released for X-Men 3–and that movie wound up being terrible.)  And, before you could say kryptonite, Bryan Singer’s latest was boasting rave reviews from Variety, Time, Newsweek, and The Hollywood Reporter.  Will Superman Returns live up to expectations at the box office?   You betcha.

UP, UP AND AWAY!  The hot new Man of Steel Brandon Routh is a dead ringer for the young Christopher Reeve, but less steel and more soul. Kate Bosworth brings a softer side to the edgy Lois Lane we’re used to. And Kevin Spacey, well, was born to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor.  Or any other maniacal villian for that matter. 

SHHHHHHH!  It’s hard not to get riled up when John Williams’ theme music cranks through the speakers.  You’re bound to get goosebumps when it hits crescendos but the two best scenes of Superman Returns actually took place in dead silence: 1) After saving the planet from a ‘ginormous growing kryptonite crystal island’ gobbling up Earth, an unconscious Superman hurtles back to Earth.  Dead silence. Heart tug.  2) Lying in a hospital bed with shards of kryptonite embedded into his skin, a critically injured Superman is visited (and kissed!) by Lois Lane and her son. Dead silence.  Heart tug.

DUN DUN DUN!  Comics-obsessed dweebs can rest easy.  Superman Returns definitely comes close to matching up with last summer’s superhero film Batman Begins (barring Katie Holmes). Plus, there’s much to look forward to.  Executive producer Chris Lee has confirmed all of the actors "are signed on for three films." Will I see Superman Returns again?  YES! IMAX 3D, HERE I COME!
