Do you regret having your relationship with Dave turned into a reality series?
Not at all. That was a wonderful time in my life, and I learned so much from Dave and from that experience. It changed my life. The show was fun, and it captured a moment in time that I’ll have forever.
So you don’t believe in some kind of MTV-reality-show curse on marriages?
Well, the Osbournes are still together! It was cool because we didn’t have cameras built into our house. I think that would have been a bit more difficult. But I think Dave and I like attention, so….
Do you think you’ll ever get married again?
I can’t say whether or not I’ll ever get married again, but I’m open to the possibility. I want to have a family someday. I’m so not against marriage. I think it’s a beautiful way for two people to announce that they want to spend the rest of their lives together. I’m very romantic. But I think it’s also important to take your time and not rush into marriage, which I actually didn’t do this time [with Dave]. What I’m saying is, don’t get married in Vegas. Take your time.
Speaking of Vegas weddings, your ex-husband Dennis Rodman recently said that you were still in love with him. Any truth to that?
[Frowning] Need I say? I’d love to sit here and say I regretted [marrying Dennis], and in some ways I probably do, but I think that difficult times are like teachers. I’m such an adventurous and passionate person that I get into the whole romance of it, and it’s easy to get swept away.
Do you generally remain friends with your exes?
With Dave, I’m facing the situation with love and compassion. I’ve been able to step outside the relationship and see it from a different perspective, and it’s empowering to do that. We’re definitely friends. We talk on the phone all the time, and I really, truly wish him happiness, peace, and love.
It is just a coincidence that most of the men you’ve been linked to wear mascara?
I did notice that. I don’t know what that’s all about. I guess I’ve always been attracted to people who stand out as individuals — people who are adventurous and take chances.
You’re one of the few stars who rarely gets caught by the paparazzi looking like you just rolled out of bed. What’s your secret?
Well…thank you! I mean, gosh, at some level you know you take that chance every time you step outside. I see pictures sometimes, and I’m like Oh God, what was I thinking? But it’s just part of the business, and you have to embrace it. So sometimes I even stop and get out of the car and just say to photographers, “What do you guys need?” I let them take a few pictures, and then I’ll say, “I’m just going home, so is that cool?” And they usually thank me for being nice, and I thank them for being nice. I can’t complain. You always think, If there was ever a day when they don’t want your picture, then what?
So it’s true that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about?
I’d rather be looked over than overlooked. Yes, absolutely. At the end of the day, I love it.
Do you have a lot of body confidence?
I actually have more body confidence than I do self-confidence. As a dancer, you learn to communicate with your body, and that’s always felt comfortable for me. But when I was in school, if I had to get up in front of the class and give a book report, I’d be petrified. I was shy. Now you can’t shut me up!
