Cate Blanchett Suffers Head Injury During ‘Streetcar’ Performance

Cate Blanchett suffered a head injury on Wednesday (September 2) after she was hit by a prop during a live performance of her play, A Streetcar Named Desire.

The 40-year-old Aussie actress, who is portraying Blanche DuBois, was performing a fight scene with Joel Edgerton, who is playing Stanley Kowalski. During the scene, Joel threw a radio, as per the script, but it accidentally struck Cate on the head.

The house lights in the theater were then turned on and the rest of the performance was canceled.

An audience member tells AFP, “She had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck. “She acted for about another 30 seconds, then ran into what we thought was the next scene, but before we knew it the lights were turned on and we were told there were technical difficulties and everyone had to evacuate the Sydney Theatre Company.”

Get well soon, Cate!
