Director Kenny Ortega has pulled out of the Paramount Pictures flick Footloose due to tone and budget.

Variety reports Ortega wanted to make a $30 million picture with elaborately-staged musical numbers while the studio wanted an edgier $25 million drama with less emphasis on the musical numbers.

Production is still expected to start in March with Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford and Dancing with the Stars alum Julianne Hough.

Ortega, who choreographed Dirty Dancing and directed the High School Musical franchise, also directed the new Michael Jackson movie This is It, out this Friday (October 28).

Blake Lively and co-star Chace Crawford take a break from shooting Gossip Girl and get their caffeine fix at Starbucks in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (October 14).

Other pictures include Blake supporting shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti at New York City’s Saks Fifth Avenue store on October 9. Just in time for Fall, Giuseppe introduced his Fall 2009 shoe collection, featuring exclusive designs for Saks. Blake, of course. is wearing GZD peep-toe booties!

Ed Westwick returns to his New York City apartment with girlfriend (and Gossip Girl co-star Jessica Szohr) on Tuesday (October 13).

Last night, the couple supported co-star Penn Badgley at the premiere of his new movie, The Stepfather. Chace Crawford (pictured below) was also in attendance.

People recently caught Ed just missing Jess during an evening out at New York City nightspot Avenue. But the Gossip Girl star found some good company in Chace and the two hung out along with another friend before Ed left early.

The producers of Gossip Girl are really pushing the envelope this season!

EW’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that the Nov. 9 episode of Gossip Girl will feature “three major characters having sex. At the same time. In the same bed. Together.”

Threesome possibilities: Chuck/Blair/Nate, Chuck/Blair/Josh, Chuck/Blair/Dorota, Nate/Bree/Carter, Serena/Carter/Georgina, Serena/Dan/Blair, Vanessa/Dan/Olivia, Georgina/Dan/Olivia, or Rufus/Lily/Mr. Van der Woodsen.

Blake Lively dons some fun red leggings while snacking on some ice cream with co-star Chace Crawford in Central Park in Midtown Manhattan on Monday (October 5).

The twosome, who were seen hugging, shot new scenes for Gossip Girl. Looks like Blake got a little ice cream on her lip and Chace wiped it off with his finger. Cute!

A well-groomed Chace Crawford heads to the set of Gossip Girl filming in New York City on Thursday (October 1st).

The 24-year-old actor won’t be filming Footloose until early next year but his costar, Dancing With The Stars Julianne Hough can’t wait to start.

“Chace and I are really in pre-pre-production for Footloose,” Julianne told FOX. “We don’t start until next year in March, but I have met up with him a few times and we’ve done a couple of things together – I’m excited! It is going to be true to this era and time with interesting flares of the original!”

Leighton Meester heads to Capitale Lounge with Chace Crawford and Taylor Momsen to shoot new scenes for Gossip Girl in Chinatown, New York City on Thursday (October 1).

Later this month, Leighton, 23, will be releasing her first single “Somebody To Love” off her much-anticipated debut album. As she revealed at the Emmy Awards, it’s an original duet with R&B crooner Robin Thicke. “Somebody To Love” is expected to hit radio on October 27.

FYI: Leighton is wearing Anlo “Kate” studded skinny jeans and Giuseppe Zanotti Design platform boots. Taylor is wearing a “Rivington Necklace” by Pretty Little Thing.

Jessica Szohr takes a big bite out of her Gossip Girl co-star Chace Crawford’s apple at a Stoli party held at Juliet Supper Club in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City on Wednesday (September 30).

Chace and Jessica, both 24, celebrated Stoli’s latest flavored vodka, Stoli Gala Applik (the tenth Stoli flavored vodka).

Also pictured: designer Christian Siriano (in Ben Sherman) and his boyfriend Brad Walsh, The Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon and designer Richie Rich.

FYI: Brad has a new album coming out next month called Human Nature. Bravo is giving Sirano his own show, showing him marketing his clothing line.
