The Oscar-winning actress will play Emily Sanders, a detective who helps a career officer (Tommy Lee Jones) investigate the disappearance of his son (Jonathan Tucker), an exemplary soldier who went AWOL after his recent return from Iraq. The film also stars: James Franco, Josh Brolin and Susan Sarandon.

The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on Saturday evening in Century City, Calif. Children of Men’s Emmanuel Lubezki was honored for in the feature film category. And can somebody please explain to me why there are rumors floating around that Charlize Theron is going to play Anna Nicole Smith in a biopic? No, seriously?

Charlize Theron got her suit on during last night’s premiere of East of Havana, which was produced by Charlize’s production company, Denver and Delilah Productions. The premiere was held at the IFC Film Center in NYC.

East of Havana is a documentary that tells the story of three Havana rappers who explore the struggles and frustrations of young Cubans living in a government-controlled music industry. The film opens in limited nationwide release today.
