American Idol winners and “losers” turn up for music mogul Clive Davis‘ pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday night in Beverly Hills — Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, and Mario Vasquez (below).

Jennifer Hudson performed “I Am Changing” at the pre-Grammy bash because, according to rumors, Whitney Houston backed out. Carrie Underwood performed two hit singles off her debut album, “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take The Wheel.”

Ellen DeGeneres ripped off the shirt of American Idol’s Chris Daughtry during yesterday’s show. She wanted to see the DAUGHTRY tattoo on his shoulders, which was done shortly after his stint on American Idol. Watch the video below!

Chris sold 304,000 units in his first week with his self-titled debut, placing him second behind Jay-Z, who was number one with his album “Kingdom Come” (Def Jam), selling 680,000 copies.

I guess coming in fourth place can mean something good. Chris Daughtry of most recent American Idol fame has just signed a record deal with Clive Davis and Simon Fuller to release music on 19 Recordings Unlimited. There are no details yet as to what his contract requires or how many CDs he’s set to release, but you can be sure that you’ll be hearing the same rock-boy antics that made him famous on American Idol.
