Chris Diamantopoulos will play Rob Weiss, the new Chief of Staff to President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) in the upcoming 8th season of 24, reports EW.

The 34-year-old actor, who’s best known playing Debra Messing’s gay BFF on The Starter Wife, will help prevent an assassination plot against a visiting foreign leader (Slumdog Millionaire’s Anil Kapoor) in New York City.

On Monday’s season finale, President Taylor’s daughter Olivia relinquished her duties as C.O.S. back to Ethan Kanin.

I kept walking and 30 seconds later, I felt a little tap on my shoulder. He said, ‘Excuse me, I think I might be lost.’ I said, ‘Mmm, I don’t think you are.’ He said, ‘Maybe you’re lost?’ I said, ‘No.’ And he said, ‘This area’s very confusing, maybe we should just figure this out together.’” After riding the subway together, Chris asked Becki if she wanted to see him onstage in The Full Monty. She recalls, “He said, ‘I don’t want to be too forward but maybe you’d like to come see me naked on Broadway sometime.’ So I did and now we’re married.”
