In 2000, the 35-year-old actor played a psychopathic banking executive in American Psycho.

Recently, the movie’s director Mary Harron revealed to BlackBook that Christian got his inspiration from watching Tom Cruise.

“One day (Christian) called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy,” Mary said.

Christian Bale and his family head out of their home for the afternoon in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 27).

The 35-year-old Dark Knight actor appears to be gaining some of the weight back that he lost for his role in The Fighter. Christian recently finished shooting for his character, Dicky Eklund.

In The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg plays Micky Ward, a junior welterweight who became famous over three bouts with Arturo “Thunder” Gatti. His Rocky-like rise to fame was shepherded by his half-brother Dicky.

Christian Bale continues to go above and beyond the call of duty for his portrayal of Dicky Eklund in The Fighter on Tuesday (July 28) in Boston, Mass.

The 35-year-old method actor shot scenes with costar Mark Wahlberg.

Bale has said about film, “It’s a true story of two incredibly gifted boxers who were half brothers. The one, Dicky Ecklund, who fought Sugar Ray Leonard at a very young age, when he was twenty one, was an incredible natural talent. He lived a very hard life. Then he came to train his brother, Irish Mickey Ward, to the world title.”

Christian Bale looks to have lost even more weight for his role as boxer/trainer/drug addict Dicky Eklund in the new movie, The Fighter, on Monday (July 27) in Boston, Mass.

Over the weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con convention, Gary Oldman, aka Commissioner Gordon, let it slip that Christian would be throwing the rubber Batsuit on again next year to begin shooting the sequel to the blockbuster hit The Dark Knight.

“We start shooting next year,” Gary spilled . “Which means the movie won’t come out for another two years. But you didn’t hear it from me!”

Mark Wahlberg flexes his boxing muscles and channels his inner Mickey Ward for the upcoming film, The Fighter, on Tuesday (July 14) in Massachusetts.

The 38-year-old actor wore Everlast boxing shorts with the initials “MW” sewn into them. Mark has the same intials as his character!

Costars Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and Sugar Ray Leonard were also spotted on set (pictured below).

Christian Bale dons a white boxing corner jacket with his character’s name emblazoned on the front pocket as he heads to the set of The Fighter on Tuesday afternoon (July 14) in Los Angeles.

In the movie, Christian plays boxer Dickie Eklund, whose most notable fight was on July 18, 1978 against Sugar Ray Leonard at the Hynes Memorial Auditorium in Boston, Mass. It looks like the real-life Sugar makes a cameo in the movie, he too was spotted on set (inset)!

Christian Bale looks to have lost a significant amount of weight and thinned his hair for his character in the new movie, The Fighter.

The 35-year-old British actor shot new scenes on Monday afternoon (July 13) in Los Angeles. In the movie, Christian plays “welterweight boxer turned trainer turned drug addict” Dickie Eklund (welterweight is heavier than lightweight but lighter than middleweight).
