Christian Bale Pursues Public Enemies

Christian Bale and wife Sibi Blazic walk the red carpet together at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival’s and Universal Pictures’ premiere of Public Enemies at the Mann Village Westwood Theatre on Tuesday (June 23) in Westwood, Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actor seemed doubtful about the making of a third Batman movie when he was interviewed by MTV News. “I truly don’t know that we’re ever going to see another Batman movie,” he said.

While Bale is contractually obligated to return for another film, director Christopher Nolan is not. “I don’t even want to think about it,” he said of the possibility of another film without Nolan. “It would be purely that he would need to find a story that was good enough — and if he can’t find that, then it wouldn’t happen,” Bale explained.

Christian Bale Premieres Public Enemies

Christian Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic hold hands as they arrive at the premiere of Universal Pictures’ Public Enemies at the AMC Theater on Thursday (June 18) in Chicago, Illinois.

The 35-year-old actor talked a little bit about Johnny Depp’s character John Dillinger. ”He created a sort of Robin Hood myth about himself. He wasn’t giving the money back to the poor, but he wasn’t taking it from them either,” Bale told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Also at the premiere Depp commented, “He was a man of the people. The banks were the enemies, just as they are now. Funny similarity, huh? ‘Plus the government was doing shiftier things than the bank robbers. Hmmm … that sounds familiar too, doesn’t it?”

Christian Bale: I Love Goldfishes ‘Cause They’re So Delicious

Christian Bale carries a goldfish and then helps his 4-year-old daughter cross the street to visit a neighbor on Sunday (June 7) in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 35-year-old British actor recently shared how he chooses which film projects to attach himsefl to: “I’m the least strategic person you’ll ever meet. I’m fairly myopic in what I approach. I only make movies because I like doing something that allows me to get immersed in the extreme and be quite obsessive, and be surrounded by people who, when they’re at the top of their game, get like-minded and obsessive and immerse themselves incredibly too.”

Christian Bale: Terminating Tokyo

Christian Bale and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Moon Bloodgood, Anton Yelchin and director McG at the Japan premiere of their movie Terminator Salvation at Lalaport Toyosu in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday (June 4).

Speaking about his role in the movie, Christian revealed that he is well aware that he is not the star of the cyborg film.

“People come to a Terminator movie for the Terminators and the action. I don’t mind essentially playing second fiddle to a Terminator,” said the 35-year-old actor.

In the US box office the action movie grossed $90.9 million so far. The film will open in Japan on June 13.

Christian Bale: France’s Salvation

Christian Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic attend the premiere of Terminator Salvation at Le Grand Rex on Thursday (May 28) in Paris, France.

The 35-year-old actor recently admitted that he almost turned down the starring role in Terminator Salvation. “I said no. I wasn’t sold on it. I just didn’t see the point in making another chapter in this mythology, I just imagined there was never gonna be one,” he told Wales Online.

“I think the human story has to be present (in Terminator), but I don’t want to be deluded and pretend this is supposed to be some analysis of the human condition. I mean it’s not,” Christian said. “We’re not making a highbrow arthouse movie here. We’re making a movie that’s here to entertain people and give them a great, good time for 10 bucks for a couple of hours.”

Christian Bale Covers GQ June 2009

Christian Bale crosses his arms on the June 2009 cover of GQ. Highlights:

On unleashing the Rant on the set of Termination Salvation: “I’d definitely say that that guy who was yelling was at least half John Connor, and the rest was Christian Bale.”

On using his Americanized John Connor accent off-camera too: “I do that because I’m just not very good at switching between two voices. If I had the talent to turn it on and off on cue, I would. But I don’t, so I have to maintain. Otherwise I’m aware that I’m “doing an accent” whenever I’m filming, instead of just speaking. Hey, listen, I don’t make any excuses. None of it is excusable. You know, I feel I already said everything about this that needs to be said when I called up the radio station.”

On when he fell off the vegetarianism bandwagon: “I was up in Toronto and went to see that movie Life Is Beautiful. By myself. And when I came out, I had a craving for blood unlike anything I had ever experienced since I decided to go vegetarian at the age of 7. It was a compulsion. It was undeniable. I went to several restaurants, one right after the other, and got the
biggest, bloodiest steaks I could get my hands on. It was the first time I had tasted flesh in almost twenty years.”

Termination Salvation opens in theaters this Friday, May 22.

P.S. If you’re wondering why Christian’s left pointer finger has a bandage on it, he “cut off the tip” during a bike crash and had it surgically reattached several days after.

‘Terminator Salvation’ Reviews Are In!

Reviews for Terminator Salvation have started to surface. The flick, which opens this Friday (May 21), stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Helena Bonham Carter, Anton Yelchin and rising star Jadagrace. Check out the first reviews:

Variety: Heath Ledger stole The Dark Knight away from [Bale] and Sam Worthington heists Terminator Salvation from Bale, for the most ironical of reasons: In a movie that poses man against machine, Worthington’s cyborg is the far more human character.

Hollywood Reporter: The machines rise to the occasion. Too bad the dramatic element’s just as robotic… An inescapable truth remains: It’s just not the same without the Governator (Arnold Schwarzenegger).
