Chuck Bartowski is back in action, and nearly 8 million people saw it happen!

Chuck came back to NBC last night and brought a whopping 7.7 million viewers in for the network!

The two-hour episode brought in the show’s biggest numbers since the post-Super Bowl 3-D special episode, which aired in early 2009, THR reports.

Ratings were up 21% compared to last season’s average viewership. Huge for Zachary Levi!!

The 30-year-old actor, who shared with Zap2it that he was a fan of the show before he signed on to act in eight episodes, will play Daniel Shaw, a mysterious CIA operative who will help Chuck and his team in their efforts against the Ring!

Former Smallville star Kristin Kreuk is joining NBC’s spy show Chuck, EW reports.

The 26-year-old actress will play Hannah, a new love interesting for Chuck (Zachary Levi), whom she meets on a flight to Paris. Laid off from her glamorous publishing job, Hannah ends up working at the Buy More (where Chuck also works).

Interestingly enough, Chuck also recently just hired Brandon Routh, star of Superman Returns. Gotta keep it in the “S” family!

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh has joined the NBC cult show Chuck for a multi-episode arc.

EW’s Michael Ausiello reports the 29-year-old actor will play “Shaw, a mysterious new spy who takes control as the new leader of Operation Bartwoski, becoming a mentor to Chuck (Zachary Levi) and a rival in his affections for Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).”

NBC spy action-comedy Chuck will be back for a third season for at least 13 episodes, says Hollywood Reporter.

Fans had launched a “Save Chuck” campaign that included buying sandwiches at series sponsor Subway. Check out the video below. NBC listens!

THR also reports that Zachary “has been a team player for NBC, appearing in the network’s PSA campaigns, marketing promotions and events.”

Here’s the episode synopsis: Chuck (Zachary Levi) learns more about Sarah’s (Yvonne Strahovski) past when they run into her old high school nemesis Heather Chandler (guest star Nicole Richie). Sarah’s teenage insecurities come to surface and she tries to avoid Heather at all costs. Chuck, on the other hand, does everything he can to hear more about Sarah’s hidden life. When Heather’s nerdy husband Mark (Ben Savage) turns out to be a key player in a new mission, the agents must attend Sarah’s high school reunion to prevent the sale of potentially dangerous super-bomber plans — all the action ends with the ultimate cat fight. Meanwhile, Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence) leaves town for a day and Buy More’s new assistant manager Lester (Vik Sahay) decides to implement a new sales policy.

“She was a cheerleader,” says Nicole of her character, Heather. “Kind of that b—-y mean girl.”

“I had a stunt double,” added Nicole on her action-packed role as a girl girl on NBC’s Chuck. “But they said I was allowed to do as much as I wanted–except for serious things.”
