Clay Aiken Taps You For Donations

Longtime UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken continues to rock out his blonde hair as he talks up the Tap project, which helps UNICEF provide safe drinking water to children around the world.

The 29-year-old American Idol alum encourages people to eat out during World Water Week (3/16 - 3/22). During that time, New York City restaurants will be asked to pay $1 for each glass of water that normally comes free with their meal. One dollar provides safe drinking water for a child in a Third World country for 40 days.

Rosie Visits Clay Aiken on Broadway

Clay Aiken shows off her pearly whites while sandwiched between Claymates Rosie O’Donnell and wife Kelli O’Donnell.

The O’Donnell ladies cheered Clay on in the Broadway production of Spamalot Tuesday night.

Rosie and Kelli will soon be embarking on the “R Family Vacations” cruise to the Mexican Riviera on Saturday. Yes, the cruise that Rosie invited American Idol’s Danny Noriega to.

Clay Aiken: I Don’t Have a Desire to Date

Broadway star Clay Aiken is not in love and he’s not looking for love, he tells NY Magazine. Here are some snippets from his length interview:

On his social life: “Nonexistent, really. I’m not a nighttime person.”

On his plans to date someone: “Heck, no. My dogs.”

On never having had a romantic relationship with anyone: “I just don’t have an interest in … any of that at all. I have got too much on my plate. I’d rather focus on one thing and do that when I can devote time to it, and right now, I just don’t have any desire.”

On suppressing his hormones: “Ah think maybe I don’t! I mean, not really. I’ve just kind of shut it off, maybe. Is that bad?”

On bars and clubs not being for him: “The only reason people go to bars is to get drunk and have sex. To me, bars are what hell is like.”

And for kicks, here’s how the article ends: “Us. We. He uses those words like one of those aggressively married women. But then he is married—to his brand, his team of staff, his celebrity, self-promotion. That’s what he was trying to tell me: He’s promosexual. And in New York City, that’s not so unusual. Perhaps Clay Aiken will fit right in.”

You can catch Clay on Broadway’s Spamalot until May 4th. Read the full interview at NYMag.com.

Clay Aiken’s Blond Moment

Clay Aiken stops by the CW11 Morning Show on Thursday to promote Monty Python’s Spamalot.

The American Idol alum plays the role of Sir Robin on the Broadway show until May 4th.

“I’m having to learn a whole new language,” Clay said about nailing the stage lingo for his Broadway debut. “Upstage, downstage. I’m like, ‘Upstage? What’s that mean? Behind? Oh, got it. Why didn’t you just say behind? …’ It makes me crazier than I already am.”

Clay Aiken Has Blonde Hair

Chameleon Clay Aiken debuted his new hair color on Tuesday morning during The View.

Clay bleached his hair a bright blonde. All of the Claymates in the audience definitely seemed to love it!

The American Idol alum also got all of the girls of The View to get down on their knees to demonstrate one of the dances from Broadway’s Spamalot. Clay extended one of his legs and that’s about as far as they got since Sherri didn’t want to open up her legs.

“I have a dress on!” Sherri screamed.

You can catch Clay in the role of Sir Robin on Broadway in Monty Python’s Spamalot until May 4th.

Clay is Still Aiken Over Newsweek

Clay Aiken spoke to ET on the NYC set of his Broadway show Spamalot about his refusal to answer Newsweek’s questions about past scandals.

Aiken, 29, defended himself, saying, “There are so many other things in this world that are more important. Newsweek usually does hard news. I think it’s the press that cares about dirt, so that’s what they print.”

Clay also addressed the media’s focus on Britney Spears: “We have a presidential election going on, and for whatever reason this is what people are interested in. I think that is probably the saddest thing. Leave her alone, just leave her alone.”

And is Aiken going to be following American Idol this season? NOPE!

“I haven’t watched ‘American Idol’ in three years now,” he said. “It stresses me out so much. I compare it to high school. I needed college to understand and know what I know now. Most people wouldn’t be where they are if it weren’t for their education. I see ‘Idol’ in the same way and I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but I don’t still go to my high school football games.”

Clay Aiken VS. Newsweek

Round 1!

Newsweek got a little too inquisitive for American Idol alum Clay Aiken. Do you think the interviewer went a little too far? Here’s what went down during a recent sit-down:

How did you get into a fight with that lady on a plane? I’m not going to talk about it.

I was just curious because you’ve never talked about it. I did talk about it.

What about the Kelly Ripa thing? I’m not going to discuss it.

Did you think it was homophobic? I’m not going to discuss it.

What do you want to talk about? I think we’re done.

Can we talk about something fun? No, we’re done. I thought Newsweek would be more reputable. I’m surprised.

But I think people are curious about it. It was a year ago. This is Newsweek. It’s not the National Enquirer. I’d hate to have a job where I had to be rude to people.

I’ll change the subject. What do you do for fun? I watch the news. I read news magazines, but I’m reconsidering that now.
