Daniel Craig and his longtime love Satsuki Mitchell lend their star power to the 2009 Worldwide Orphans Foundation Benefit Gala at New York City’s Capitale Lounge on Monday (October 26).

The couple came out to support Daniel’s Steady Rain co-star Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, who are honorary committee co-chairs for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.

WWO aims to transform the lives of orphaned children by taking them out of anonymity and helping them to become healthy, independent, productive members of their communities and the world.

The 41-year-old British actor joined Maggie Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond, Mike Nichols, Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep in a one-night benefit performance, which used songs and poems from the 2006 Shakespeare in the Park production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children.

A Steady Rain is a two-man play about two Chicago cops whose lifelong friendship is put to the test when they become involved in a domestic dispute in a poor neighborhood. The play opens officially on Tuesday night at NYC’s Schoenfeld Theatre.

FYI: Hugh has been sporting a fake forearm tattoo for his role as Denny in Steady Rain.

Hugh Jackman sports a tattoo of a nude mermaid on the forearm of his right arm, but don’t be alarmed, it’s not real!

A reliable source tells JustJared.com that the tattoo is just for his Broadway play, “Steady Rain,” co-starring Daniel Craig. Hugh wears a short-sleeved shirt throughout the show, so you can see the tattoo the whole time.

“Denny (his character from the play) got the tattoo before he got married,” the source tells Just Jared.

According to Variety, the show has made $3 million in advance sales already from American Express cardmembers who took advantage of an exclusive presale before the public could even purchase tickets.

Maybe Hugh should keep the tattoo as a memento of the play’s success!

The pair gave their first preview performance last night (September 9) for friends and family at New York City’s Gerald Schoenfeld theater. Deborra-Lee Furness was spotted cheering on her husband in the audience but Daniel’s girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell seemed to be M.I.A. After the show, Daniel and Hugh signed autographs and took pictures with fans outside the stage door.

The stage was simple: two actors, two chairs, two light fixtures hanging above them, and a black backdrop. There was no trace of James Bond under Daniel’s mustache and completely convincing Chicago accent. And Hugh gave an extremely emotional performance while delivering his heart-wrenching tale. (He also delivered plenty of eye candy in his skin-tight polo. Daniel was dressed in a suit the entire time.)

The 41-year-old British actor walked out of a building wearing a visitor badge from the Steiner Studios, which is located at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. (That’s Daniel and co-star Hugh Jackman’s secret rehearsal space!)

Daniel recently signed on to star in the psychological thriller Dream House. Variety states he’ll play a New York publishing exec who relocates his family to a small New England town, only to learn that their new home was the scene of a vicious murder.

A Broadway insider also tells Page Six, “Security and secrecy around the show are so tight that Jackman and Craig are rehearsing at a secret location outside the city.”

Jackman and Craig’s play A Steady Rain starts previews on Sept. 10, has an official opening set for Sept. 29 and is scheduled to run through Dec. 6.
