Premiere Magazine January 2007 has a preview of Nicole Kidman’s His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass — In this adaptation of the first book in Philip Pullman’s beloved fantasy trilogy, a motley crew of witches, polar bears, and yes, Texans battle a mysterious force that kidnaps children. It took ten years for Pullman’s ambitious story to make it to the screen, with director Chris Weitz (About a Boy) exiting the project once — citing “technical challenges” — only to return two years later. All along, Daniel Craig was eyeing the role of the spooky benefactor, Lord Asriel. “It’s not just about fantasy,” Craig says. “It’s about rites of passage and becoming an adult and how tricky that is.” Newcomer Dakota Blue Richards (Selected from among 10,000 girls who turned up for open auditions in England) plays Lyra, the heroine who travels to the arctic north as part of the rescue attempt; Kidman is the malevolent Mrs. Coluter, who stalls her progress.

His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass will be released nationwide next year on Dec. 7.

Casino Royale raked in another $15.1 million for a total domestic run so far of $116 million, well on its way to surpassing the $432 million total of James Bond’s most successful screen adaptation, Die Another Day. If you haven’t seen the film yet, go out and see it now!! Definitely will be seeing it again.

Daniel Craig and Casino Royale co-star Eva Green take the cover of the Nov. 24 issue of Entertainment Weekly, out on newsstands today. Ticket sales for Casino Royale in the U.K. box office during its first day of release on Thursday, earned a whopping $3.2 million. Waa-waa-wee-waa-waa! Casino Royale has to open with $47+ million in ticket sales this weekend in order to to beat Die Another Day (Pierce Brosnan).

Daniel Craig was spotted grocery shopping with his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell again in London . This time at Fresh and Wild Organic Food Shop. (The couple shopped at Tesco last time.) Satsuki is a film producer girlfriend (The Jacket, Godsend). Craig will will play 007 in the new Bond film, Casino Royale, which is out in less than a month — Nov. 17!

Daniel Craigand film producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell (The Jacket, Godsend) picked up a few essentials from Tesco in England earlier this weekend. Craig, 38, will play 007 in the new Bond film, Casino Royale, which is out Nov. 17.

Daniel, 38, spoke of his relationship Satsuki in an interview late last month: “We’re together, and she’s been experiencing this whole situation with me. Any relationship needs a little love and care at least once a day. I don’t want to get soppy about it, but you’ve got the put the time in. it doesn’t matter who you are, you’ve got to keep putting it in.” Aww, how adorable are they! More pictures in the gallery…

Nicole Kidman was spotting dining with fellow actor Daniel Craig at the Posh Berkeley hotel in London (left) before heading back to her central London hotel.  This past Monday, Nicole was also spotted making a quick exit from her hotel (right).  More pictures in the gallery!

Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig are co-stars in the upcoming New Line Cinema film, His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass.  Production begins September 4th in the U.K., with a slated December 2007 release. 

Daniel will play Lord Asriel, a ruthless and mysterious adventurer who is the uncle of Lyra Belacqua, the young girl who journeys to a parallel universe to save her best friend. Nicole will play the mother of Lyra Belacqua, Marisa Coulter.  They will also be joined by Eva Green (Daniel’s Casino Royale co-star), who will play Serafina Pekkala, the queen of witches who guides Lyra.

My favorite Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, as confirmed by her official website, was in Nassau filming Casino Royale with Daniel Craig earlier this year.  I’m sure Alessandra’s cameo appearance will be brief, but hey, at least she’s got work outside of modeling lingerie!   Here are some recent pictures from the set of  Casino Royale at exclusive British prep school Eton, where nearly 70 years ago, James Bond was supposed to have been expelled. But he will soon be making a dramatic return to his alma mater. Daniel Craig shot several scenes at the college as part of Casino Royale. More pictures in the gallery!
