As his wife went house hunting in Los Angeles earlier today, David Beckham watched his Real Madrid team’s Spanish first division soccer match against Zaragoza at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, Spain.
Becks was accompanied by his mom Sandra Beckham in their private VIP box.
It’s official! David Beckham will be playing with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer in a five-year deal bringing in an estimated $250 million. His contract with Real Madrid expires on June 30. Becks will join the LA Galaxy shortly after.
Becks‘ official statement read: “I am proud to have played for two of the biggest clubs in football and I look forward to the new challenge of growing the world’s most popular game in a country that is as passionate about its sport as my own… This week, Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract by a further two seasons. After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.”
Timothy J. Leiweke, president & CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns LA Galaxy, said: “David Beckham will have a greater impact on soccer in America than any athlete has ever had on a sport globally. David Beckham shilled for Motorola in Tokyo, Japan earlier this morning, promoting their MOTORAZR phone. Becks kicked the soccer ball around, waved to fans, and even posed with families!

David Beckham and wifey Victoria arrived at Ciampino airport in Rome earlier today to attend the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Life & Style is reporting that Katie’s hair will be styled by Ken Paves (Jessica Simpson’s hair stylist and BFF) for the wedding.
Access Hollywood announced that the wedding will take place tomorrow at Odescalchi Castle, a 15th-century fortress in the lakeside Italian city Bracciano. The usual $50,000 fee to use the castle has been waived because of all the attention TomKat has brought the town, says Bracciano mayor Patrizia Riccioni.
