American Idol couple David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell hold hands after sharing a romantic lunch together on Thursday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif.

David, 25, recently sat down with EW.com to talk about his self-titled debut CD that hits stores on Tuesday, November 18th.

On his ‘rivalry’ with Idol runner-up David Archuleta: “Hopefully, because that means Archie and I are hopefully still doing well! In a sense, it’s fun that that whole rivalry thing got created. If you put me in the same sentence with David Archuleta, I’ll be fine.

On his single “Light On”: “”Light On” is an interesting song. It encompasses almost all of my range. It’s all over the place. That’s Chris Cornell at his finest. It’s got some Zeppelin influence in it; it’s got some ’80s hair-metal influence; it’s got some grunge influence. To me it’s like a rock history lesson put into about a four-minute lecture. It’s fun to play, but it is definitely an intimidating song.”

On his comparison to Daughtry: “I didn’t let it get to me on the show, and I see no reason to let it get to me afterward. I just think this record is me, and if people want to compare it to Daughtry, awesome.”

FOOTBALL FIELD FIERCE

Check out David Cook’s new “Light On” music video, which was shot on October 21 and 22 at L.A. Valley’s College Football Stadium. At the helm of this project was director Wayne Isham.

“Light On” is the first official single from the the 25-year-old American Idol season 7 winner’s major label debut self-titled studio album, which has a release date of Tuesday, November 18.

David Cook smirks at the cameras as he arrives at LAX on Wednesday with a skateboard in hand and mystery woman by his side.

The 25-year-old American Idol Winner recently scored a shoe endorsement deal with Skechers. The shoe brand company will use David’s tousled image to sell it’s casual footwear line. He said of the company, “I have always viewed Skechers as a cool company, so I am excited to be a part of their campaign.”

David will be appearing on billboards and print ads for the shoe brand through December 2009. His debut album cover and track listing was announced earlier today.

It was just announced that David Cook will release his debut album on Tuesday, November 18th!

His label, 19 Recordings/RCA Records, also stated that the 25-year-old American Idol champ teamed with Grammy winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock) on the studio album.

David Cook hits a few balls before the Mets played the San Diego Padres at Shea Stadium in New York on Thursday.

Cook, 25, was joined by fellow American Idol finalist, Carly Smithson, and third-baseman David Wright.

The American Idol winner also had the honor of throwing out the first pitch.

“I am a Kansas City sports fan, but I’m a baseball fan, more than anything,” Cook said. “To be able to come to Shea, with all the history and the fact there’s going to be a new stadium next season, is really cool.”

American Idol champ David Cook lugs around his football, guitar and yoga mat while passing through LAX airport in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Runner-up David Archuleta arrived with his manager father Jeff. He just blogged why he’s in town, saying, “I’m in L.A. for the time we have off right now and have had a couple of meetings involving the album, which were fun. Our next show is in St. Louis, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never been there so it should be fun to see the big arch there haha. Anyway I’ll try to get that blog up, even though it’s not fancy or anything haha, so you guys can at least see it soon.

“Oh one more thing. On So You Think You Can Dance, a couple named Katee and Will danced to my performance “Imagine.” I thought that was way cool! Haha. They did awesome. I feel… Like honored lol. Ok sorry i’m out of it right now so have a good night everyone.”
