Justin Chatwin as Goku in Dragonball — FIRST PICTURE

Here’s the first clear (possibly) official photo of Justin Chatwin as anime hero Goku from the upcoming Dragonball live-action film.

Also pictured: Emmy Rossum as Bulma, whose father’s Dragon Ball is stolen by Piccolo (James Marsters).

Jamie Chung of Real World: San Diego fame is also pictured below. She plays Chi Chi, the lifelong love interest of Goku.

Dragonball has the tentative release date of April 8, 2009.

Justin Chatwin @ ‘Dragonball’ Set

Justin Chatwin, aka Goku, arrives on the Mexico City set for his new film Dragon Ball, which took place at the filming at UNITEC’s (Universidad Tecnológica de México) Coyoacan Campus.

James Marsters (demon king Piccolo), Jamie Chung (Chi-Chi), Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura and Joon Park costar in the live-action adaptation of the manga, which will open in theaters nationwide on August 15, 2008.

James Kyson Lee (Heroes) is rumored to play Z Fighter Yamucha.

Justin Chatwin Joins ‘Dragonball’ Movie

Japanese manga phenomenon Dragonball Ball Z is coming to the bigscreen, per Variety.

Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds) and James Marsters (Buffy, Angel) have joined the cast and will begin shooting later this month.

Chatwin, 25, will star as Goku, a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. He has already begun training with 87Eleven, the stunt performance company behind the action sequences in The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and 300.

Marsters, 45, is onboard as the film’s villain, demon king Piccolo.

Dragon Ball Z:The Movie is set for a worldwide Aug. 15 release.
