Katherine Heigl returns to her home after hosting Grey’s Anatomy costar Ellen Pompeo’s baby shower in Hollywood on Saturday (August 29).

Many of the gifts – which included a Sleep Sheep toy mobile, Sleepy Safari stacking toys, organic hooded towels and a Kiddopotamus organic swaddle wrap – came from the Juvenile Shop in Sherman Oaks, where Ellen is registered. (Ellen and pal Nicole Richie shopped there together last month.)

Ellen Pompeo arrives at her baby shower, which was hosted at her Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl’s house in Hollywood on Saturday (August 29).

The catered, outdoor baby bash was held in the backyard. Guests brought gifts wrapped in girly pink and yellow colors (more evidence that Ellen is expecting a girl).

“Ellen looked gorgeous in a white summer dress with her hair in a braided up-do. She seemed very excited to celebrate with her girlfriends,” a spywitness told People. More Here! »

Ellen Pompeo and her husband, music producer Chris Ivery, leave their home and head to their baby shower on Saturday (August 29) in Los Angeles.

The party was held at her Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl’s home in Los Feliz. Kate Walsh, Sandra Oh and Rebecca Gayheart (Eric Dane’s wife) were all present.

Earlier in the day, Ellen and Nicole Richie – who also is pregnant – shared some special time together. (They ran into each other while browsing the racks at baby store Juvenile Shop last month.)

A very pregnant Ellen Pompeo wears a fun striped top as she leaves her Hollywood home with husband Chris Ivery on Thursday (August 20).

The 39-year-old actress and a female friend were later seen grabbing some fro-yo from Pinkberry.

EW’s Michael Ausiello just addressed rumors of a Mer-Der breakup on Grey’s Anatomy. He writes, “The Mer-Der relationship will be written a little lighter during the first half of the season as a result of Ellen Pompeo’s real-life pregnancy and subsequent maternity leave. ‘I think we would be irresponsible writers if we didn’t give a woman who’s seven-months pregnant a little less time on her feet,’ maintains exec producer Krista Vernoff. ‘She’s waddling around seven-months pregnant about to push a baby out of her body. We have a responsibility to alleviate her screen time a little bit.’ That said, Vernoff insists Mer-Der are at no risk of losing their title as Seattle Grace’s reigning super couple. ‘It would be false to say that Mer and Der are no longer the focus of the series,’ she says. ‘Derek and Mer will always be a focus of the series.’”

Mommy-to-be Ellen Pompeo returns home after attending her pilates class in Los Angeles on Saturday morning (August 15).

The 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress is reportedly having a baby girl!

A glowing Ellen went shopping with a friend at Juvenile Shop in Sherman Oaks, Calif., on July 23, where she bumped into Nicole Richie.

“Nicole and Ellen greeted each other with a hug and seemed like they were good friends,” an eyewitness tells In Touch. Nicole was helping Ellen with her baby registry since Ellen is due in October. She wanted everything from a BabyBjorn bouncer to girly organic blankets!

“Nicole was so excited to offer her help to Ellen,” says an insider. “She was giving advice about what she should buy and things she’ll need for the nursery.”

Mom-to-be Ellen Pompeo takes a walk in Los Angeles while holding her keys and Blackberry on Tuesday (August 2).

The 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy star will be on an indefinite leave from the show. But the show will go on!

ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson said, ““Katherine is back. I don’t think there’s any big secret about that. And obviously, T.R. (Knight) has left. But it’s a show that’s evolving. I think these large ensemble casts, they evolve over time for a variety of reasons: some of them creative, some of them business, some of them just personality issues. But we feel like Shonda (Rhimes, Grey’s creator) really hit her stride again at the end of last year. And the early stuff we’ve seen this year, we’re really excited about! We made some additions to the cast last year, and I think you’re going to see some more additions this year. I don’t foresee any giant other changes that are going on.”

Yesterday. the 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress and husband Christopher Ivery were spotted having lunch together at Ago restaurant in West Hollywood. The Italian trattoria has the financial backing of Miramax moguls Bob and Harvey Weinstein, actor Robert De Niro and directors Tony and Ridley Scott.
