Check out this new still of shirtless Emile Hirsch on the 
upstate New York set of Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock, a behind-the-scenes look at how the 1969 music fest came together.

“It’s later in the year than it was during Woodstock 
[which actually took place in August], Emile tells EW. “We were all shivering, and we had these silver-foil space blankets that miraculously keep you really warm. [But they don't keep you clean.] I did a Superman slide down a hill, and started turning on my back… I was covered in mud. I think there was pig crap mixed in, because we all smelled like crap… ‘Woodstock becomes a way for him to find the joy he has left in his life.”

Future Milk man Emile Hirsch takes the latest Fall 2008 cover of Nylon Guys. The 23-year-old actor talks about his upcoming biopic, which tells the story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk. (In the film, Emile plays gay rights activist Cleve Jones.)

On his first role in The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys: “I had no idea how to play the part. I didn’t understand the dialogue. I didn’t understand the character. But the casting director really believed in me. It’s funny because people now say, ‘That’s such a natural performance’, but in my mind that performance is the one most influenced by other actors.”

On how he chooses films to star in: “I give a f—, but I don’t give that much of a f—. I’m still going to throw in some goofy s—. I don’t want to get too precious.”

On his upcoming film Milk: “I just had such a wonderful time. it’s such a great ensemble. Speed Racer was such a highly controlled performance environment that I found, honestly, a little frustrating at times just because it’s so hard when you’re on the green screen and it’s all about, ‘Bat this eyelash a little bit here.’ On Milk, it was just a free-for-all and we were all going nuts.”

Emile Hirsch shines in his silver blazer again at the premiere of their new flick, Speed Racer held at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday in Tokyo, Japan. (He wore the same vest and blazer on Friday except this time, he didn’t don his interesting choice of neckwear.)

The 23-year-old actor, who plays the title character in the film, posed in front of the Mach 5 car with 47-year-old costar Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays businessman Mr. Musha.

Speed Racer opens on Saturday, July 5 in Japan.

Emile Hirsch opts for a big black ribbon tie instead of a typical necktie to go with his silver blazer while out and about with two lady friends in Paris on Friday.

The 23-year-old Speed Racer walked around Place Vendôme in his silver suit with his gal pals.

Well, let’s just leave it at Emile has a very interesting sense of fashion.

Check out the first seven minutes of Speed Racer, opening in theaters tomorrow. Go, Speed Racer, go!

Emile Hirsch is the sexy new cover boy for the latest issue of Flaunt Magazine.

The 23-year-old young, rising star (Lords of Dogtown, Alpha Dog, Into the Wild) was shot by the legendary photographer David LaChapelle. “It was an honor to work with David in such an exotic environment as Hanna, Maui, ” Emile said. “David is full of fresh and creative ideas, and has unlimited energy.”

Here are some interview snippets from Emile’s Flaunt interview:

On being grateful for his genetic luck: “When you have parents who are encouraging of creative things, who give you a pen and paper and different-colored markers
and are excited about how you are creative visually, it’s good for your development and imagination.”

On doing what’s not expected of him: “I’m more interested in doing different films where I don’t know if I can go off or not. That was one of the exciting parts about doing Speed Racer. It was all green screen, craziness , comic-book superheroes, and That was part of the challenge, what was appealing about it. It wasn’t just some tiny independent film that was all dialogue and character. There were different components to it.”
