Akon produced and is featured on Gwen’s latest single, “Sweet Escape.” He recently talked about working with the Hollaback Girl: “I said, Hell yeah! Once me and Gwen met, it was like we’ve known each other for years, like that [collaboration] was supposed to happen. It was crazy. Once I got the call, I started doing background, checking up on No Doubt [all the way] to her solo project. I’m going through all those records and trying to figure out what’s missing from what she’s doing today. The sound she had back then [during No Doubt] that made her so big, it wasn’t incorporated into this album. So we sat down and Gwen had a whole bunch of ideas. She had a clothing line, she’s got all kinds of stuff going on. She wanted to incorporate all that into the record. We were trying to figure out words we could use to incorporate all that into the record and coincide with what she was doing as far as imaging and marketing her brands. ‘Sweet Escape’ was a perfect title for her. Once she heard the beat, we sat down and came up with collaborative ideas and started writing.”

Here are the latest snapshots of the fabulous Gwen Stefani taking her 8-month-old son Kingston for a walk through London’s Primrose Hill on two separate occasions earlier this month (the 11th and 15th). Gwen is scheduled to perform on Total Request Live (TRL) next week to help celebrate and kick off MTV’s Spankin’ New Music Week.

Gwen Stefani was spotted leaving her home in Primrose Hill, North London yesterday wearing tartan trousters. She wore her trademark bright red lipstick and carried her 8-month-old baby Kingston.

Gwen and hubby Gavin Rossdale recently picked up top honors as “Most Stylist Celebrity Parents” in a poll conducted by baby product brand Cosatto. Here are the results:

Ultra glamorous Gwen Stefani attended the 2007 NRJ Music Awards (NRJ is a French radio station) held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France earlier today. Gwen Stefani has been busy out and about in Primrose Hill, London — stopping by null her local Pharmacy and Bric A Brac Shop as well as dropping by a friend’s house in Swiss Cottage. She was accompanied by her hubby Gavin Rossdale, 41, and 8-month-old son Kingston.

Gwen Stefani’s “Sweet Escape” music video feat. Akon just debuted and everything about it is ridiculously over the top. I was laughing the whole entire time!!!! Good thing it’s one of my fave tracks from the album…

The hair? Ridiculous. The excessive amount of Gwen’s “G” emblems everywhere? Ridiculous. The black and white skintight prison jumpsuits? Ridiculous. Gwen Stefani is the covergirl for Elle Magazine February 2007 issue — new baby, new album, new style! Here are some choice quotes from the interview:

• On not being the superwoman she thought she was: “I thought I was going to be one of those Mother Nature girls. I figured, I’ll just squeeze it out, ’cause I’m really strong and I work out and stuff.”
• On breaking down before concerts: “I would be seriously crying before I went onstage. I didn’t know how I was going to get through the tour, putting on nine costume changes on a stage in front of 12,000 people every night. And I didn’t want people to know (I was pregnant). I didn’t want to become the Gwen Freak Circus Show – ‘Watch it grow onstage.’ “
• On baby Kingston: “Kingston is so chill. He goes with me everywhere, ’cause I’m still nursing. He’s been to every studio in L.A., New York, London. He lives up to his name – total Rasta boy… He gives me real balance. You can go 100 miles an hour, but you still have to stop to hang out with him.”
• On fighting with British rocker husband Gavin Rossdale: “Of course me and Gavin have problems, sometimes. Everyone does. We’ve been together for over 10 years.”
• On her relationship with Gavin: “This is, like, the real deal.”
