Caught a screening of Babel last night. How did Brad Pitt measure up? Even ex Gwyneth Paltrow told NYDN that he’ll take home an Oscar: “It’s the best performance Brad’s ever given. [Babel] makes you want to take good care of your children.” Here’s how it went down…

3 different countries. 4 groups of people. Lives forever changed. A man in Morocco is sold a rifle that he gives to his two sons to protect their goats from jackals. While practicing their shooting, the younger son accidentally shoots an American woman, (Cate Blanchett) who is vacationing with her husband (Brad Pitt) aboard a tour bus. The movie establishes the characters that are further connected to the American couple, the children who are with their Mexican nanny back in the States and the original owner of the rifle, a Japanese businessman whose daughter is deaf-mute.

• The Daily News features a photo of Madonna and newly adopted David Banda in Malawi. Sources tell London’s Daily Mail that the tot has a nursery filled with $25,000 worth of toys, including a child size BMW that he is not yet old enough to operate. The Mail also reports that Madonna plans to fly to California to complete the adoption- on the advice of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have two adopted children.
• Jake Gyllenhaal and ex Kirsten Dunst had a friendly chat at Capitale on Tuesday night. Dunst’s publicist says the two are “friends.”
• Jennifer Aniston has purchased a $15 million dollar Beverly Hills mansion just three doors away from Friends co-star Courtney Cox. The home is still under construction but will reportedly include six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
• Jessica Simpson will guest star on a November episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, reports Life & Style. Jessica will be the musical guest on the show within-the-show.

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in Spain last night and traveled through Barcelona airport with her 6-month-old son Moses. Gwyneth, 33, is in town to shoot a Freixenet cava advertising campaign. The Sun has a wild — most probably unfounded — story about Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest diet. Gwyn is reportedly banned from wheat, dairy products, sugar, gluten, booze and red meat. But she is allowed turkey, chicken and white fish but NO swordfish. Veg is OK but she can have NO tomatoes, peppers or other fruits, except for bananas. How ridiculous does that sound?!?!????!!!! NO APPLES????
