Hairspray! The Beat Goes On Fri, 16 November 2007
Entertainment Weekly takes a sneak peek at the Hairspray DVD (release date November 20, 2007) and shares a video of the song, “I Can Wait.”
This wistful sweet ballad was composed especially for the film as a solo for heroine Tracy Turnblad (played by Nikki Blonsky), and was actually shot for the film, but was eventually deleted before the final release.
The scene shows Tracy singing the ballad while locked up in Prudy Pingleton’s bomb shelter basement, interspersed with montages of events that took place earlier in the movie.
Don’t wait to catch the video at ew.com.

If you haven’t seen the Broadway musical of Hairspray, you can catch Ashley Parker Angel, formerly of boy band O-Town, as Link Larkin, starting Jan. 19.
If you’re not familiar with Hairspray or Broadway musicals at all, watch the video below of the original cast of Hairspray: The Musical on The Today Show in September 2002. One of the most fun songs ever!
