Aussiewood star and father of two Hugh Jackman shows off his washboard abs – and so much more! – at a beach in Sydney, Australia on Sunday morning.

Sporting his Wolverine beard and the body of a superhero, Hugh, 39, took a break from filming X-Men Origins: Wolverine to spend some quality time with his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness and children — Oscar Maximillian, 7, and Ava Eliot, 2.

A heavily bearded Mr. Jackman sported his Wolverine look all day–he’s been shooting the new X-Men spin-off movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Costars Daniel Henney (Agent Zero), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Dominic Monaghan (Beak) and Taylor Kitsch (Gambit) all have scenes to shoot this week as well.

Here is the very first picture of Hugh Jackman in the new X-Men spin-off movie, Wolverine.

“I know it seems odd given, you know, the guy is already half animal,” Hugh tells USA Today. “But with all the success of the X-Men, you feel the pressure to keep pushing it further.”

Wolverine will be a prequel to the X-Men movies and show a more vulnerable side to the superhero.

“I think one of the reasons the X-Men took off is that it connected in a way nobody saw,” Hugh adds. “They’re mutants with powers. But they’re also outcasts for being, and everyone connects with that on some level. And who wouldn’t want the power to get back at the people who ostracized you?”

Hugh also mentioned that Wolverine’s nemesis Sabretooth “is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos [of new and familiar mutants]. But you can’t give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film.”

Wolverine slashes its way into theaters on May 1, 2009.

The 39-year-old actor is toting around his favorite eco-friendly “Garden Life” bag.

Hugh, 39, was also seen chatting with his dad, Chris. At the end of this month, Hugh is scheduled to travel to Queenstown in New Zealand to start filming.

Hugh Jackman takes his 7-year-old son Oscar on a shopping in Sydney, Australia on Friday morning. The father-son pair rode in style in the family Mercedes.

At the end of this month, Hugh, 39, is set to jet off to Queenstown in New Zealand to start filming his latest Hollywood blockbuster “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.

Oscar wears a Kid Robot logo t-shirt in red. Hugh wears a “Paspaley Polo in Albert Park” cap. (It’s an event from last month, which showcased some of Australia’s best professional polo players.)

Hunky Hugh Jackman enjoys a family day out on Wednesday at Centennial Park in Australia’s Sydney with his son Oscar, 7, and daughter Ava, 2 1/2.

The trio spent the day playing ball and collecting bugs. Hugh, 39, even gave out shoulder rides to both of his kids. And how cute is Hugh and Ava rubbing noses??
