Hugh, who went karaoke singing with Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson last night, is currently in Japan to promote Wolverine and his other flick, Australia.

At around 10PM on Wednesday (February 26), Rob joined Australia star Hugh Jackman, director Baz Luhrmann and producer John Palermo at a karaoke bar near their hotel, as first reported by E!. Here’s the connection: On Sunday, Rob presented at the Oscars, Hugh ably hosted the swank event, John created the flashy opening number, Baz choreographed the “Musicals Are Back!” number and everyone wound up taking the same flight to Japan together.

A Tokyo journalist confirms to JustJared.com that the foursome (plus friends) sang for a few hours before Rob’s costars Kristen and Taylor joined in on the fun. Photographers caught them leaving bar around 3AM.

Jackman and Palermo are in town promoting their much-anticipated superhero flick Wolverine as well as Australia, which will break the $200 million mark this weekend.

FYI: Kristen is wearing Paule Ka’s black leather mini dress with white origami detail at the skirt.

Nicole Kidman (in Prada) and Hugh Jackman (in Burberry) promote the Australia Japan Premiere at Toho Cinemas Nichigeki on Thursday (February 26) in Tokyo, Japan.

“They’re the most down to earth couple that I’ve met being in country music,” country music star Taylor Swift recently said of Nicole and husband Keith Urban. “Nicole Kidman will hug you and look you in the eye and you can tell she’s so engaged in the conversation and listening to you and Keith will come up to you and talk to you,” she said.

Taylor also said that Keith is “such a sweet, sweet person, it’s like he has no idea what a superstar he is, it’s like no one’s told him.”

Preliminary ratings show that the 2009 Oscars are up 6 percent over last year, which pulled in its smallest audience ever with 32 million viewers.

NY, LA and Chicago were the markets with the highest Oscars ratings. The always charming Hugh Jackman hosted the evening’s events, impressing the audience with his singing and dancing skills. He was accompanied on stage by Anne Hathaway in the opening number and later in the evening by Beyonce, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried.

Hugh Jackman shows off his pearly whites as he takes on the hosting duties of the 2009 Oscars held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night (February 22).

The 40-year-old actor suited up in three custom-made three-piece tuxedos with dress shirts by Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo tuxedo shoes with black lace ups and Fred Leighton accessories.

Oscar host Hugh Jackman and singer Beyonce jazz up the 2009 Oscars with a Bubsy Berkley inspired stage performance on Sunday evening (February 22).

Together with real-life couples Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) and Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia!), the sixtet performed memorable songs from several musicals including Chicago and Moulin Rouge.

“I know from watching in the past that the sport isn’t how great the host is doing,” Oscars host Hugh Jackman tells LA Times with a laugh, “it’s that they’re dying, that there are crickets chirping when they make a joke, that they’re horrible. But the beauty of being there is I’m going to be in a room filled with people far more nervous than I am. They’re all nominated, and they don’t know what’s going to happen. And I assure you, the camera will be on Brad [Pitt] more than it will be on me.”
